Obsessed book reviews (49 KP) rated Her Forever Hero (Unexpected Heroes, #3) in Books
May 7, 2019
I have read a number of books by this author and she never disappoints. this is a fantastic romantic story with just enough hot steamy scenes to keep you hooked. the book is fantastically written with brilliant characters which are going to keep you reading long into the night. this is the third book in the series, but I hadn't read one and two before reading this, to me this book could be read as a standalone.

TravelersWife4Life (31 KP) rated The Sugar Baron's Ring (The Leeward Islands, #3) in Books

Anyone else just love a good traveling adventurous story? I do. Lorri Dudley’s Leeward Island series take me to a place full of adventure. All the books can be read as standalone books, you do run into familiar characters at various points in the books but they are just passing mentions and do not leave you feeling like you are missing something; I always look forward to seeing how the former characters are doing now

Merissa (11702 KP) rated Fall Guy in Books
Feb 18, 2022 (Updated Jul 3, 2023)
FALL GUY is a standalone novel that tells the story of Ronan, our Fall Guy, and Gabriel, the bodyguard. Now, you might be thinking it's the same old, boring, bodyguard story and you'd be completely wrong. Yes, Gabriel is the bodyguard, and yes, they fall in love. But, man, the stories they tell along the way will have you hooked.
I loved this story. It was apparent from the beginning that it wasn't as clear-cut as you might expect. I really felt for Ronan and do think he needed a better class of friends. After all, none of them went to see him. None of them even questioned what had happened. Sometimes, people suck!
Was Ronan stupid? I don't think so. I think he was used, his love abused, but stupid? No. His sort of familial love is one I would love to have! And as for Gabriel. He gave his reasons for the decision and I absolutely agree with him. This isn't right all the time but, trust me, when a father is that weak, it takes a lot for him to change, and not everyone can or does.
The only issue I have with her standalone books is just that - they're standalone. I need more from other characters. Isaac, I'm looking at you. Packed full of emotions, this story absolutely delivers. You get steamy moments that are pure love, no unnecessary miscommunications, second chances, and a heart of gold, it's all here. In other words, it's a typical Felice Stevens book and as such, you know I'm going to highly recommend it.

Amazing movie
Contains spoilers, click to show
Loved this movie, wow enjoyed it from start to finish and it didnt seem anywhere near 3 hours, loved the comedic elements to it, loved the closure for captain America, nice way to end his story, loved the emotional feel, especially for iron man, loved it 3000, understood the sacrifice black widow made, shame she didnt get the same treatment stark got but maybe that was due to her character getting a standalone movie after this whereas ironmans story is done, as I said great movie!!
Obsessed book reviews (49 KP) rated Breaking Love (Full Hearts, #2) in Books
May 7, 2019
this is the second book in the full hearts set, but you do not need to read the first one, they are really standalone read just slightly linked threw secondary characters. this is a good read, must say not as good as the first but still worth a read. as the story line unfolds the story becomes more gripping and I couldn't put it down in the final characters. this is a very steamy, romantic and very enjoyable read. would definitely recommend

Gemma (572 KP) rated An Expert in Murder (Josephine Tey, #1) in Books
Jul 6, 2018
Good introduction to the world of Josephine Tey
I enjoyed this novel about the fictional life of a real person, Josephine Tey. This is the first novel in the series by Nicola Upson and I had previously read the fourth book as a standalone and I think that may have clouded my view a little on this book as I already knew what happened to the characters later on. I think if I was reading this novel first it would have been a lot more gripping. As it was, it was still an enjoyable mystery.
TravelersWife4Life (31 KP) rated Hope in the Mountain River (Call of the Rockies, #2) in Books
Feb 23, 2021
I have to say that the description of this book does not do it justice.
Hope in the Mountain River is book 2 in Misty M. Beller’s Call of the Rockies series. This book can be read as a standalone, although I recommend reading them in order as the first book sets the scene for this one. However, there are no loose threads and you can just read this one by itself if you choose too.
“This epic journey is not at all what she expected” is such an understatement

Merissa (11702 KP) rated Challenge Accepted (Wolf Appeal #2) in Books

Challenge Accepted (Wolf Appeal #2) by KB Alan
Challenge Accepted is the second book in the Wolf Appeal series, but it can be read as a standalone, as I did. Adam was changed into a werewolf against his will, and has tried to remain off grid ever since. He comes into contact with others when some of the natural wolves in his woods get sick, and then some of the werewolves do too. The head honcho herself, Myra, turns up and is able to speak with him, letting him know just what she had done with the pack that turned him. The attraction between these two is sort of instantaneous, sort of not. The sparks are there, but the fire isn't lit (properly) until the end of the book. You'll see why ;)
This was a well-written story that fully explains Adam's situation without being bogged down in detail. There were no editing or grammatical errors that disrupted my reading flow. This story was intriguing and engrossing, and was great as a standalone. Recommended by me.

ArecRain (8 KP) rated Lord of Night (Rogues to Riches, #3) in Books
Jan 18, 2018
The third novel in this series but can be read as a standalone, Lord of Night was a lovely read. I adore historical romances and I particularly enjoyed that the hero of this story wasn't a duke (or something similar...)
I don't have much to say about this book other than I enjoyed it. They characters felt more dynamic than the cut and paste characters you read in other historical romances. The H/h had a sweet slow romance the naturally developed over times. It was a pleasure to read with a HEA that will leave the ready content.

Alice (12 KP) rated Dragonship in Books
Jul 3, 2018
Without a doubt, the easiest five stars I can give a book. This short standalone novelette about wild dragons and mounted ships is to die for; with a interesting and unique concept with a distinctly piratey feel.
Eloquently written with a great set of characters. Those on the gundeck named as numbers - my opinion named as when they arrived.
The Gellborn elites above deck are focused around Beln and Fustian - Fustian a sadistic ass and Beln our heroine of the hour with more morals than she should and a newfound bond with the Red.
Excellent. J.P. Can I have more?!
