This was a wonderful story, with many different races being represented. I loved the various festivals they had, and the meanings behind them. Watching Lysander become more confident was one of the best bits of the book! But it wasn't just him. It was seeing Ezra become more settled, even when it felt as though everything was falling down around his ears in other parts of his life. Neither of our MCs was perfect, but that made it better.
This was a medium-paced story, giving me time and opportunity to fully appreciate the little nuances of the story before moving on to the next big thing. I really hope to return to this world again, especially to spend more time with Ann, Elsabeth, and Belle! Plus, there's always Felix and Orion!
A great read and definitely recommended by me.

While this is the fifth book in the series, and the second to feature Jim Chee, it reads like a standalone, with little from the previous book being brought up here. That isn’t to say that the characters are bad, it’s just a difference in storytelling from what we get today. I found the characters pulled me in. The mystery was strong with plenty to keep me guessing and a red herring that distracted me. Yet the ending was logical. As always, the landscape and culture came to life. I’m looking forward to more.

Bram and Trevor were best friends growing up, until Bram left Maplewood. They have remained long-distance friends and go on holiday together once a year. The only trouble is Trevor thinks a whole lot more of Bram than just Best Friends. And Bram is afraid to rock the boat and lose the friendship. Along comes some Maplewood Matchmakers!
This is a nice story with good pacing and low angst. Trevor and Bram don't wait for the closing act to get their thoughts in gear, giving some nice scenes where they realise who they are to each other. Most of the intimate scenes between them are, well, not fade-to-black exactly, more like fade-to-grey. And when trouble does occur, it is easily sorted with little drama.
And that, I'm afraid, is why I'm giving it 3 stars. It was nice. It didn't thrill me, it didn't sweep me away, and I didn't feel that connected with the main characters. It was just... nice.

Oberon King is known as the Purse of the White Frost, while Fenrir is simply known as Wolf. Fen has lived for many years as a Product of The Wardrobe, and has one final mission before his mistress, Michelle, says he will be claimed as Pack. Of course, you know it's not going to be straightforward!
I loved the back and forth between our two MCs, complete with their cheesy romantic one-liners and the dad jokes. That was balanced by Fenrir's heartbreaking backstory that came out in dribs and drabs. They are ably supported by a host of characters, some of whom I've heard of or met in previous books.
This is a dark romance, so it does come with trigger warnings. Please read to ensure it's safe for you. I personally didn't think it was too bad, but that's me. Use your judgment for your own mental health.
A great read that I thoroughly enjoyed and have no hesitation in recommending.

This was a great story, with plenty of world-building and lore without being bogged down by all the minutiae. The differences in both the characters and places help build within the story, and nothing is just easy and solved with the wave of a hand. The relationship between Edric and Zephyr is slow-burn but with plenty of emotions. It does lead to some steamy moments but doesn't overtake the story.
This is the second book by this author I have read and it has been proven that intricate and emotional stories are what to expect, which I love! A fantastic story that I thoroughly enjoyed and have no hesitation in HIGHLY RECOMMENDING.
