Really Enjoyable
I love Star Wars even though I'm not a huge Sci-fi fan and I wasn't sure what to expect and wasn't sure either if anyone else could play Han Solo... To say I was happy with it would be an understatement - I thought it was brilliant. There was the perfect amount of action mixed with humor, the portrayal of Solo was spot on and could easily been a young Harrison Ford with the mannerisms and speach.
For me it added to the Han Solo character, how he came to be the person we knew and loved from the originals.

Canon, but not really worth the read.

One spoiler ahead that doesn't really add much but it's nice to know, if we didn't know it already.
A pretty poor attempt at a Star Wars story, especially as it's considered canon.
This may be the second earliest installment in the Star Wars canon, but it fails to add anything to the saga, apart from we find out that Count Dooku was Qui-Gon Jin's master.
The story is mainly based around an adventure featuring Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan involving something about a princess and some jewel thieves...pretty uninspiring characters in terms of originality.

Simon Lader (1 KP) rated Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi (2017) in Movies

Inconsistent addition to an overrated canon
I'll be brief: I'm not a star wars fan and never have been. Emperor's New Clothes Strikes Back. Other than the excellent Rogue One, every star wars movie has been mediocre at best, and Jar Jar Binks at worst. The Last Jedi suffers from too many plot lines and characters, an overdramatic yet limp baddie and a hero who needs to get over himself. On the plus side, the cinematography is excellent as are the set pieces, but frankly if a movie has lost your attention to the point that you start admiring the cinematography, that kind of sums up the problem.

A solid second novel
While not the pop culture thrill ride that was Ready Player One, this book still held my interest. It will appeal to gamers and Sci-Fi fans with its premise of a video game being used to train the general populace as soldiers. You need to be able to speak fluent “geek” (Star Wars, Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, etc.) to catch all the references.
