My favourite of the Lord of the Rings films. I prefer the battle scenes in this one. The Gandalf vs the Balrog is a scene you won't forget. Everything about the film is top quality, production, sets, costumes, Sfx, the score. Combine that with a great all star cast and an epic story make this an amazing film.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
Writer/director James Gunn takes us back to Knowhere to join Star-Lord, Drax, Gamora, Rocket and Baby Groot in the follow-up to the unexpected smash Guardians of the Galaxy.
Taking up where we left off from the last movie, albeit a few years later, the Guardians are in the groove now and start the movie with a spectacular set piece with the super popular Baby Groot showing off some dance moves while the rest of them fight a gigantic intergalactic beast.
All the original cast return and have settled into the characters so the movie cracks straight on with the story. As rumours had it, this film is all about family and charts the discovery of Star-Lord’s father’s origin and how this relates to Star-Lord. Without giving too much away, Star-Lord meets his father (Kurt Russell) and has to choose between his dysfunctional family or his birth father. Another character arc of interest is in a returning character Yondu who also faces another dilemma over family.
Family pervades the movie in Gamora’s case too as Nebula (Karen Gillen) returns to provide a reluctant support to the Guardians while trying to fight them. Some impressive cameos including Sylvester Stallone and, get this, David Hasselhoff!!!
Guardian’s 2 is a fantastic (if not even better) than the first instalment and Gunn has already said he is on board for film 3. The quirkiness, the humour and the action from the first is ramped up in this one and doesn’t let you down.
There’s a shock and no less than 5 after credits scenes, so be sure to stay until the end of the movie to get your money’s worth.
A recommended movie if you like sci-fi, action or just a good exciting adventure story. It’s out now at all good cinemas.

Lego Star Wars is the earliest of the Lego franchise based games I can remember with its success came tons of other games of its kind Lego Indiana Jones Lego Lord the Rings Lego Harry Potter the list just goes on and on Lego Star Wars drops the player
straight into the cockpit of the Vessel that is Star Wars the pre sequel trilogy you work your way through multiple levels that cover the series in chronological order each level has tons of hidden areas and items to find characters to unlock and just plenty of reasons to replay them there are lots of characters to unlock with certain characters having different purposes for the game some of the characters are for fighting some of the characters are for building items and others are for getting into special areas or solving puzzles this game is oozing with charm and comedy which would soon become the trademark of the Lego games no voice acting or dialogue means the story is told through physical acting and they do it a pretty good job at it

So, Superman For All Seasons.
Told over four seasons, with each season from the point of view of a different character, starting with Spring (Jonathan Kent) before moving onto Summer (Lois Lane), Autumn (Lex Luthor, here portrayed more as a business man than as a crime lord) and finally Winter (Lana Lang), this is really all about Clark Kent's early days as The Man of Steel.
Not long ago, I also read [b:All Star Superman|7719640|Absolute All-Star Superman|Grant Morrison|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1374351837s/7719640.jpg|10465171], which (I believe) is also commonly considered one of the better Superman stories. Of the two, I have to say: I preferred this one. Following the now-infamous Disney acquisition of Star Wars (which saw the abolition of the old Expanded Universe), I'm actually no-longer sure where this sits in the hierarchy of canon: is this 'Legends' (i.e pre acquisition) material, or is it stil canon?
This is set between the events of 'Attack of the Clones' and 'Revenge of the Sith' - actually leading directly into that movie, with Anakin and Obi-Wan jetting off back to Coruscant - and, in many ways, seeks to bolster the reputation of one of the missed opportunities from that movie: that of General Grievious (not his face on the cover ...).
I'm also not sure where it sits alongside the Genndy Tartakovsy animation which also seeked to do exactly that, though the latter portion of the novel does seem to describesome of the actions shown in that animation (the surprise attack on Coruscant, and the capturing of Senator Palpatine) in prose form.
This is also the first of the so-called 'Dark Lord' trilogy (comprising of this, [b:Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith|35458|Star Wars Episode III - Revenge of the Sith|Matthew Woodring Stover|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1388228249s/35458.jpg|476816] and [b:The Rise of Darth Vader|359848|The Rise of Darth Vader (Star Wars The Dark Lord Trilogy, #3)|James Luceno|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1388209667s/359848.jpg|574260]); while I have previously read - and enjoyed - the middle of those three, I now feel like reading the series in its entirity, from start to finish.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is a hilarious romp of a superhero movie. Chris Pratt and friends return as the titular Guardians a few months or so removed from the first film. This time Star-Lord and friends must figure out the mystery of Ego The living planet and Star-Lord's origins. Writer/Director James Gunn strikes gold once again in this highly anticipated sequel. The way he has portrayed this ragtag team has set them apart from other heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. My only issues would be the retread of the whole "we are family" story. Vol. 1 already established that they became tight-knit through their trials on Xandar. The other would of course the weak villian of the film with the whole take over the universe plot point. Other than that it is a solid film.

A soundtrack with a bonus movie
Following on from the success of the first movie (from which I became a Marvel converter), Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 had big breeches to fill. And they, somewhat filled them.
I still prefer Vol 1, however I feel that most sequel's don't usually live up to the first movie. But that doesn't mean they didn't try. Vol 2 hit us with another kickass soundtrack that leaves us foot tapping for weeks post-movie. Any movie that includes 'The Chain' by Fleetwood Mac can never be THAT bad in my opinion.
The movie missed the mark slightly in terms of acting. Chris Pratt was charismatic and funny in Vol 1, but in Vol 2 I found that I spent more time cringing at his acting rather than enjoying it. This was disappointing as I always deemed the first film to be Star Lord ft. everyone else, but this film felt more like everyone else ft. Star Lord.
Karen Gillan was also fairly vapid in her acting, which was disappointing as she was given a much larger role in this movie. Nebula was a fairly interesting character in Vol 1, but I just wanted her to leave my screen in Vol 2.
Great work with the relationship between Rocket and Yondu, I was pleasantly surprised by this addition and found it the most interesting plotline of the movie.

this game was a highlight of my GameCube gaming days this fun departure from the usual lightsaber wielding Jedi Central games of the Star Wars Canon focused on the exports of Jango Fett the man who would serve as the template for the clone troopers one of the greatest military mights of the Galaxy and the father of Boba Fett a man who would be feared throughout the cosmos as he Embarked on a dangerous campaign to detain a dark lord of the Sith Empire the game would bring you to many back drops such as Savage jungle planets Prison Planet giant Metropolis Droid assembly lines and the criminal underbelly the gameplay was simple enough a mixtures of action and platformer with some slight stealth game mechanics

Practical effects
Before writer/director James Gunn made us familiar with Star Lord and Rocket, he wrote and directed this fantastic creepy gory thriller starring Nathan Fillion, Elizabeth Banks and Michael Rooker.
The film starts out with a similar first act to The Blob, then quickly goes its own way. Slowly, little, juicy caterpillar creatures make their way through the small town and infect the inhabitants while the main creature infects another group of townspeople.
You have to like B movie quality cheese and gore to enjoy this movie, but I thought it was a lot of fun. The actors definitely do not take it too seriously, but you find yourself squirming in your seat once all hell has broken loose.
I return to the film often when I need to lighten my mood.

The first cross-over event since Marvel took over the Star Wars franchise, this ties together both the 'core' Star Wars comics, alongside the seperate Vader side-issues, and sees Vader being froced to crash land on a nearby planet when he comes out of hyperspace into the middle of a rebel fleet while searchign for Luke Skywalker (who, remember, does not yet know his relation to Vader as this is set between 'A New Hope' and 'The Empire Strike Back').
A fleet that he proceeds to decimate single-handedly, until Skywalker deliberately crashes his X-Wing into Vader's own TIE.
After crash-landing, the rebels on that planet - led by Princess Leia - then throw everything they have at the Dark Lord of the Sith: once again, and in some dramatic art, Vader is again easily able to defeat everything they send against him.
Meanwhile, Han Solo and Chewie are also on the search for the crashed Luke, in a race both against time and against Dr Aphra, who wants to capture Luke herself for Vader so she can prove she didn't lead him into a trap.
I found this a quick and rather-enjoyable read which (finally) goes to show just why Vader was feared so much by the Rebel Alliance!
