The writing is smooth and the contemporary setting all too believable. The supporting characters provide a bit of light relief whilst providing a back-up system to Dallas. There is not a single superfluous scene or character in this book. Everyone and everything has been placed for a reason.
This is the first book in the series so you only get a HFN ending. It finishes on a bright, hopeful note though so that's something. Who knows what the future holds for Dallas and Justin. It won't be easy no matter what but I seriously can't wait to continue their fabulous story. Highly recommended by me.

Oh, these two. Well, three if I include Amy, which I absolutely have to. So cute. Rogan's insecurities are completely understandable, whilst Lorcan is so very down to earth. Amy is a child who has her eyes wide open and sees everything.
I loved this story. It was everything I needed, from low angst to high steam. I just hope that we get to see the other two find their HEA too! With a smooth pace and no editing errors I noticed, this was a delightful read that kept me turning the pages. Loved every word and HIGHLY recommended by me.

If you took out all the descriptions of the dresses (and other outfits) you'd have 1/3 of a book. It was during these points where I questioned where the plot went cause it had a tendency to disappear.
I wouldn't say it was a puff and fluff book cause I don't want to disrespect those books but if it wasn't for the vocabulary and banter I'd probably would have DNF the book. I was disappointed that there wasn't as much steam-punk elements as expected and more supernatural elements then I realized. (My own fault for not properly reading the book blurb.)
I think that the author dropped the ball on some of the boundary pushing elements such as: talking about the colonization of Inda, pushing the boundaries of women in British society and social class. All in all I was amused if a bit bored at times and not sure if it's worth a second read through or to continue on in the series.

I love JP Sayle, you know I do, and I LOVED the Tangled Tentacles series, with the kraken and their arms, so I was expecting to love this book too, even if Fitch is an octopus, rather than a kraken.
But for me, I found it a little . . .flat . . maybe?? I dunno WHY I didn't love it, and I can't get my bloody book brain to spill its secrets, so I can't explain what was up with it! I'll just write what I did like and be done, ok??
I liked that Fitch, at 4 years old, knew that Shaun would be his. I liked that Fitch waited for Shaun to get with the feelings programme. I liked that they both have a say.
I did love Shaun's sister, Mandy, and what she did. She loves her brothers, plural, for she included Fitch in the number, and she wanted them both to be happy. Sneaky!
It has some steam, but I didn't think it was as smexy as some other Sayle books. It was more about the emotions between these two, and finally admitting who you wanted to be with!
3 good stars, and I'm so sorry I didn't love it!
