Merissa (13194 KP) rated Angel 6.0: Escape (Angel 6.0 #2) in Books
Jun 2, 2023
The second instalment in Angel's adventures starts off with her still onboard the Gran ship, being the Captain's concubine and Jason's lover. She is very good at compartmentalising her life and will do what she can to survive. An opportunity arises that could equal both her and Jason's escape, but things go wrong and she ends up alone, trying to understand her feelings and wondering what to do next.
This is once again very well-written, full of action, intense, and with some amazing steamy scenes. It does end on a cliffhanger and you will be left definitely wanting more. Recommended!
* I received this book from the author in return for a fair and honest review. *

Merissa (13194 KP) rated The Pumpkin Man in Books
Jun 8, 2023
This is a short but steamy coffee break book that tells the story of Gemma, the witch. She doesn't have much of a social life (being a witch) so every year she bespells a pumpkin man to do all the chores she hates. As a perk to herself, she also asks him to make love to her each year. However, one year a wolf shows up and the tale takes on a new twist.
Although this is only a short story, it covers a year of time. Well-written and with enough of a story to make it enjoyable, this has humour, passion and loneliness. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Merissa (13194 KP) rated Pyromancist (7 Forbidden Arts #1) in Books
May 20, 2023
This story starts with Clelia waking up in the woods. She is safe, as she has her wolf dogs protecting her, but she is worried that she may be the cause behind the multitude of fires that have started recently. There is a strong bond between her and Erwan, her grandfather. The story takes a twist when it is Erwan who is suspected of causing the fires. More than just the police are interested, and Erwan makes the decision that both he and Clelia are going to disappear. Clelia doesn't get very far before Josselin meets up with her, although she had already seen him, but he doesn't remember it.
This is a fast-paced action/adventure with a splash of paranormal. There is plenty of Alpha Male growling going on whenever anyone else looks at Clelia, but Josselin isn't prepared to admit his own feelings. The scenes between Clelia and Josselin are very intense, and steamy in places. The difference between Clelia and Josselin is very obvious - in the fact that Clelia has a quiet strength that grows throughout the book, but is very submissive towards Josselin himself. As for him, I personally found his possessiveness/jealousy a bit much, but Clelia seemed happy with it, so that's all good 😉
A steamy adventure with parts of paranormal, I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants a different take on action/pnr.
* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and the comments here are my honest opinion. *

Merissa (13194 KP) rated Anonymous Alpha (Bangers & Mash #7) in Books
Jun 19, 2023
ANONYMOUS ALPHA is the seventh book in the Bangers & Mash series although I didn't know this when I started reading it. It can absolutely be read as a standalone although I am now curious as to the other couples, some of which I think we met in here.
Anyway, this is Sable and Evan's story. Sable is an Alpha who can be contracted to help with an Omega's heat - all above board, nothing to worry about. Evan is an Omega nearing his heat who hires Sable. He is a pop star nearing the end of his contract with his label and his manager. The manager wants to stick around and isn't afraid of using threats to try and get his own way. Seeing where things are going??
I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Yes, it was obvious who it was, and obvious where the help was going to come from, but, you know what? None of that spoilt the story! It was steamy and sensual, with Sable giving Evan both freedom to be who he needed to be and the support he wanted. The steamy scenes nearly set fire to my Kindle, so fair warning!
It was smoothly written and character led making this a brilliant story. I'm definitely interested in the next book in the series, but I'm also very interested in the ones that have come before. Definitely recommended by me.

Debbiereadsbook (1487 KP) rated Saul (Rent-a-Daddy #1) in Books
Oct 9, 2024
low on the angst but HIGH on the warm and fuzzies scale!
I was gifted my copy of this book.
Calvin wants to bury his head in the sand, or his blanket fort, he's not fussy, and totally ignore the invite to his best friends wedding. Problem is not that he doesn't want to go, just that he will meet the Daddy who broke his heart last year. Enter, Saul. Doing this one thing as a favour seemed like a good idea, even is Saul isn't really a Daddy. But seeing Calvin for the first time does . . . . .something. . . .inside of Saul. Can they really pretend?
What I loved about this was how quickly they both knew, and admitted, that this wasn't pretend anymore. I loved how Saul settled into the Daddy role with way more ease that he thought he would, and that he seemed to know what Calvin needed WAY before Calven did. That was the biggest thing for me. That Saul never really knew he was a Daddy, but with Calvin, he absolutely was.
I found it heavy on the emotional side, but a bit lighter on the steamy side. Oh it's steamy, yes indeed, but not explicit. It's more about the emotional connection between Saul and Calvin, rather than the physical one.
Low on the angst scale, but high on the warm and fuzzies slash too stinking cute scale! I read this in one sitting.
I loved that the rotten daddy gets his comeuppence!
And I loved catching up with all the couples that live in Rainbow key!
5 cute and fuzzy stars

Debbiereadsbook (1487 KP) rated Bed Hopping: Island Confidential Novella in Books
Jul 24, 2025
Not ever so steamy but emotional!
Independent reviewer for Archaeolibrarian, I was gifted my copy of this book.
Ryan's best friend is getting married and is expecting him and his boyfriend to attend. However, Ryan and Devon split up. They didn't tell her because she is superstitious. So attending the wedding with Devon in tow is a necessary evil he has to put up with for a few days. But meeting the most gorgeous man he ever saw puts a spanner in the works. Harry finds Ryan attractive, but he's got a boyfriend, right? Then it's a matter of him NOT having a boyfriend and keeping their fling from the bride. Simples, right?
This is one of those books, that you can just fall into, wile away a couple of hours and be happy you did.
It's funny: lots go wrong for the bride, and she loses her sh8t about a lot of minor things and it's great watching Ryan bringing her down.
It's not ever so steamy: but I did like that. Ryan and Harry have chemistry right from the start, but it's not until Harry catches Devon in a clinch, do they act on it. Oh, there is heat and passion, but the steam level is just right for this book.
Emotional: Devon is a bit of a wiley one and plays on Ryan's good nature and his fame, such as it is. And Ryan needs to get past that before he can commit.
One last thing, I've tagged it HFN. WHile Ryan and Harry are together, I think they have more to say!
A thoroughly enjoyable 4 star read.

I tried to like this novel but it just fell short. I give 3 stars for the steamy sex scenes but thats all I enjoyed about it. The heroine Rikki felt too whiny and obnoxious. I seriously felt like she needed to go see a therapist because she clearly has no coping mechanisms to speak of. The rest just felt cliché. A sexy fireman calendar, that pushy friend who speaks in sexual innuendos and thinks that everything can be solved by getting laid, and even a wet t-shirt shower seen. All in all, it felt like a porno come to life. If thats your thing, then you will love this novel but dont expect any depth. Though come to think of it, the author warns the reader of that.
I did not expect to like this novella as much as I did. After reading the synopsis, I really wanted to read it, especially since I have a thing for romance/erotica featuring chefs. Meat did not disappoint. Overall, it has likable characters, steamy scenes, and an alpha male who isnt a sexist bore! The only downside, is that the story is highly predictable. I am not sure if the twists were supposed to be twist because I picked up on them right off the bat (and I am a bit slow at these things.) Not that it detracted from enjoying the story. What I appreciated most, however, was how realistic the erotic scenes are. I wont give anything anyway, just that you should read it.
