Anti-cinema. Furry propaganda that bastardizes random corporate logos into hideous background characters for a crude mixture of ripoff film noir, shit-looking ๐๐ฐ๐บ ๐๐ต๐ฐ๐ณ๐บ and... the Nazi Party? Sort of genius. But also the most compact measurable example of going through the Kรผbler-Ross five stages of grief. The best thing you can do with butt-ugly, endlessly questionable, ultra-filtered garbaggio like this is not to futilely attempt to reject its offerings into the minds of twisted, twisted individuals - but to fully embrace and accept it as a tonic, to make you feel better about yourself. One big hilariously bad sexual thrust of a children's film that isn't - in any capacity - suitable for children; at one point there's an extended 'steamy' dance routine where Dex Dogtective and Lady X strongly attempt to both fuck *and* kill each other at the same time. Horrible, half-finished food puns like "Let's strawberry jam outta here" and "Frankly my dear, I don't give a Spam" spin back into some kind of stupid subversion. Cold, lifeless, perturbing eyes staring back at you with an ominous silence that makes one want to crawl out of their own skin (pretty sure this triggered my fight-or-flight response multiple times over). Also the last 30 minutes is a sustained barrage of disgustingly rendered CGI puss. A closer experience to ๐๐ฉ๐ฆ๐ณ๐ฆ ๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐๐ฆ๐ข๐ฅ ๐๐ฐ ๐ต๐ฐ ๐๐ช๐ฆ than it thinks.

The cover grabbed my attention straight away when I saw this in the Netgalley catalogue. You should know by now that I like a good cover.
Then comes the story... Well. I read books for the romance aspect and it took a little too long, in my opinion, for anything even slightly romantic to happen. Yeah, I get she's on a mission to save the world and everything but surely she's allowed a little fun? Nevertheless, when it did happen. Phew! It was scorching. The attraction between Alana and Gaelen was hot from the very first meeting...and his eyes! The only problem with their attraction is that they don't particularly like or trust each other so they fight it, which results in some hot scenes.
There was a lot of description, which I will honestly say bores me to death sometimes and I skip over large areas. In this I scanned it, looking for important stuff that I might need to know.
It had a fair share of location changes; going from London to Wales to Italy to Ireland, as Alana hunted for the items and the information she needed to stop the demons from coming through the rift.
Not really for me, but if you like Urban Fantasy, lots of description, or some steamy sex scenes and attraction then this is probably for you.

I could tell this was going to be a hot read from the first chapter when Frankie was fantasising about JakeยSteamy!ยand I wasnยt wrong.
You get to see from both Frankieยs and Jakeยs POV, which is an advantage when Jake is described as being a serious, moody guy by Frankie. But then seeing from Jakeยs POV just why heยs behaving like that balances it out and it switches between every so often.
The first sex scene between the pair took up a fair bit of the book but it also contains an intriguing plotline. Who was Frankieยs stalker and why were they stalking her? Unfortunately we donยt find out in this one but I hope the author is well on her way to finishing a second book in the series so we can.
I liked it but I also feel slightly cheated since we didnยt find out who was behind the attacks against Frankie. Iยm left with more questions than answer but at the same time Iยm happy that Jake and Frankie got a happy ending as they are both really likeable characters and deserve some happiness after what theyยve both been through.
Short and sweet. I will certainly read the next in the series when it comes out.

I was drawn into this pretty much from the first page. Blair is a bit of a contradiction in the fact she looks like trouble but is actually really nice, if a little naughty and playful at times. It starts with her stealing a parking space from someone in a diner parking lot and buys two pieces of pie, one for herself, one as an apology for the guy whose space she took. They argue/chat for a while and you can see they have an instant connection/attraction which ends up leading to a steamy make out session in the guys car. They part ways and Blair continues on to her dads house but it turns out that the guy she made out with lives across the road from her new home with his gran.
I really liked this. I wasn't sure what to expect with it being a-new-to-me-author but God, is it good! I was so emotionally invested in these two.
I cried like a baby towards the end with the Jemma incident. How could everyone turn on her like that? She'd not been any trouble, she'd never shown any interest in drugs and they're all ready to throw her out and wash their hands of her apart from Granny Yo. And then Granny Yo... *sniffles*
I'm glad these two got their HEA and I'm interested to see what happens in the rest of the series.
I really liked this. I wasn't sure what to expect with it being a-new-to-me-author but God, is it good! I was so emotionally invested in these two.
I cried like a baby towards the end with the Jemma incident. How could everyone turn on her like that? She'd not been any trouble, she'd never shown any interest in drugs and they're all ready to throw her out and wash their hands of her apart from Granny Yo. And then Granny Yo... *sniffles*
I'm glad these two got their HEA and I'm interested to see what happens in the rest of the series.

BISHOP TAKES KNIGHT is the first book in the Redclaw Origins series. Now, I have read two books of the Redclaw Security series, and thoroughly enjoyed them. So I was intrigued by the thought of going back to see where it all began. I was NOT disappointed.
This book takes you back to the 1950s, with socialites, and women trying to find their way into work now the men are back. There is so much glamour in this book. I loved it! The story is twisted and intriguing, with plenty of humour and wit to keep you going.
Rhett Bishop is full of sass, determined to make her own way and not rely on friend's handouts. Peter Knight thinks he has reached the bottom, only to discover things aren't as bad as he thought. These two end up working together and taking advantage when life hands them opportunities.
There are no steamy moments in this book, but don't you worry. There is tension aplenty and you just know they will end together with fireworks. You just don't see anything apart from one kiss. Trust me, this is absolutely perfect, and exactly as it should be in this book.
This book was the 'living end' that I devoured in one sitting. Between Delilah and the flaming chicken, I couldn't put it down. I really can't recommend this highly enough, and I can't wait for the next book.

Capture is the first book in the Torsere series and we drop into a world where kingdoms are small but the dragons are great!!!
Ryneq is the King of Torsere, his sister is about to enter a marriage to the Elves, and he doesn't have time for a dalliance of any kind other than the odd night or two. Nykin is a young dragon rider, partnered with Fimor, and doesn't think he would be satisfied with just a night or two so is prepared to admire from a distance. Circumstances throw these two together to begin with but bravery and loyalty make it a long-term affair.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! The twist with the timing of the bond with dragons was a new one on me. Nykin and Ryneq are wonderful characters that I want to know more about. The world-building is done so you get bits and pieces where relevant rather than an info dump. The descriptions of people and places make them all easy to see. There are a couple of steamy scenes but nothing too in-depth.
All in all, a brilliant start to a new series and I really can't wait to continue. Absolutely recommended by me.
