Book Divas (227 KP) rated Twisted Tales: A Paranormal Anthology in Books
Dec 12, 2017
I received a free ebook copy in exchange for an honest review. I made no guarantee of a favorable review.
If you are looking for some good stories written by some amazingly talented authors then look no further. Each story has a different element of paranormal surprise that keeps you on the edge of your seat on this fantastic roller coaster of a ride. All the stories contained within this anthology are well written with a steady pace and strong characters. You will definitely find yourself ensnared within the magical web that all the authors have weaved.

Haley Mathiot (9 KP) rated Quilts in the Attic: Uncovering the Hidden Stories of the Quilts We Love in Books
Apr 27, 2018
This book is so inspiring! I loved flipping through the book and looking at the pictures of the quilts and reading about them. It was fun to read, too. These stories felt more like fictional short-stories than they did a historical report! The only thing I would change is I would have liked the book itself to be a little larger, because the pictures were so small. I also would have liked to see more pictures of the quilt. There was only one picture of each quilt.
This would be an excellent gift to a quilter or a quilt collector.

This is a great book for children. It easy for children to understand. It tell about David live back then. It also has information to help you out like "Did You Know?" - which tell you information or facts, Eye Witness- Give a historian view. It also gives other information. This book tell the bible stories about each person in the bible. It great for children. It also may be something for your young readers in to get to know the bible or stories that are in the bible. The pictures are great as well and make the story come a live.

Dana (24 KP) rated Sleepy Hollow and Other Stories in Books
Mar 23, 2018
While I very much enjoyed the first story, Sleepy Hollow, I was not as big a fan of the other five stories. I was expecting major creep factor, especially since Sleepy Hollow is so often turned into Halloween films, but it just wasn't there.
I think I am just not a big fan of Irving's writing style.
Rock Paper Books did an excellent job putting the stories together, though. The cover art was stunning and I am so glad I got this as part of my August 2017 Owlcrate.
All in all, it wasn't horrible, just not my cup of tea.

David McK (3557 KP) rated Aliens Omnibus, Vol. 2 in Books
Jan 30, 2019
Collecting the plot arcs of 'Genocide', 'Harvest' and 'Colonial Marines' I'm sorry, but I found this to be a real slog to get through.
Which is a pity, as these stories are (meant to be) a spin-off from still-the-best of the Aliens movie (i.e. the second, the one with an 'S' at the end).
And those aliens themselves - described in the movies as 'the perfect killing machine' - are treated more as cannon fodder than anything else, with these three stories all concentrating on increasingly unlikeable characters in increasing desperate situation.
One for completionists only.

I was sure I’d read Dubliners before - possibly during my English Literature A Level, but I couldn’t remember what the stories were about. They really give the reader a feel of what life must have been like at the turn of the last century in Ireland. They’re not all ‘pretty’ stories either. We see alcoholism (or at least heavy drinking that impacts life and family), poverty, suicide, missed opportunities and hard decisions. So, normal life for a lot of people.
I now wonder if I should go back and reread one of his novels?
Many thanks to The Pigeonhole for serialising this book.

Laura Turner (36 KP) rated The Vampire Diaries in TV
Jul 21, 2019
One of my favourites
Elena Gilbert loses both her parents and from then on her life becomes entangled in vampires, werewolves and witches. It is one of my favourite shows ever. The Salvatore brothers are gorgeous even for blood sucking vampires.
The storylines are always really good and each season has something different to offer.
The characters throughout are fun and you fall in love with their stories and lives.
If you love vampires and supernatural stories this is definitely worth a watch. As is the originals which is a spin off from the show.

Versusyours (757 KP) rated Tales of Halloween (2015) in Movies
Nov 4, 2019 (Updated Nov 4, 2019)
A varied range of stories with differing degrees of success. There are 10 tales that cover the range of horror from urban legends, comedy, gore, Grimm fairy tales and many othe horror tropes. As with most anthologies the stories are short and sharp with the plot of each story being apparent quite quickly and there are a few twists and turns that keep you guessing.
There is enough in the collection to make you look out at the dark corners of your room a little bit more nervously and I will never look at a pumpkin the same way again.
