I really liked this. It gave me tingles at times, the forbiddeness of it all. It was rather naughty, how it all starts but I loved the story by the end of it.

Can't wait to read more of these 'straight' guys stories.

"The latest - and maybe the best - collection from one of my favorite comedy writers, Simon Rich. Several of these stories have been published in the New Yorker, and have become those rare comedy pieces that everyone I know is always talking about and forwarding around."

"“I was always a HUGE fan of all things Roald Dahl… nobody wrote more imaginative stories for kids. These worlds he created had the nonsensical appeal of Dr. Seuss, while at the same time, the characters were all written with wonderful complexities and enormous heart"

"I debated between Cervantes’ ‘Don Quijote’ and ‘Martín Fierro,’ because they both are great classic epic stories in the Spanish language, but ended up choosing José Hernández’s great poetic work because of my early connection with it as a child growing up in Argentina."

Lovely stories
Great Little Program
Two episodes in and I was having a little cry at just how sweet the story was.
Such a lovely program capturing the family spirit.
Hands down, the best thing to come out of Australia since Hugh Jackman!

"“It’s basically lots of short stories that don’t seem to finish or have any really positive message. If you read about his life, he was going through a very dark time – it’s a very honest book and it shows you a different side to writing.”"

"Grand, extravagant sci-fi, painting humans as ignorant but persistent explorers in a structurally plausible and achingly advanced universe. Niven’s genius was in telling relatable stories amid galactic wonders and horrors. I rather hoped we might all be living in ring worlds by now."

"I am dyslexic: this is the first book where reading it helped me to understand the power of literature. It demanded my attention like no other had up to that point in my life. Thematically, I am drawn to reading stories of epic journeys."

Essentially, this is the book version of 'monstrous creatures' from Manke's Lore podcast. I read this prior to listening to the podcast, so I ended up skipping some eps. I wish it would have had some stories that weren't already featured on the podcast.

In this collection of eight short stories, Shankman tells the tales of Włodawa during WW2, uniting fact and fiction with a smattering of magical realism. Find out more about this lovely collection in my review here https://tcl-bookreviews.com/2016/02/23/wlodawas-wars/
