Katey Bassett (610 KP) rated Our Kind of Cruelty: A Novel in Books
Oct 28, 2018
Extremely disturbing
I won this book on Goodreads and had heard great things about it, the book definitely had a buzz. The writing style was good and made it very easy to be extremely creeped out and uncomfortable at the main characters thought process and actitons.

David McK (3562 KP) rated The Big Sleep in Books
Jan 28, 2019
Early 'tec noir; if it only seems so familiar now it's because just about every such book since has copied that style of pulp fiction: the hard-bitten private eye, the liberal use of the vernacular, constant rain and the femme fatale are all now hallmarks of the genre

Deborah (162 KP) rated The Black Arrow in Books

Not sure of RLSs writing style is always like this, or if it was pseudo-medieval speak, but it took a bit of getting used to. Hero not too bright in many ways and something very odd seems to be going on with the Wars of the Roses chronology!

Natari (73 KP) rated Legendary: Caraval Book 2 in Books
Jul 19, 2019
If Caraval made you obsessed with the world, then Legendary will make you worship it.
The book is a joy to read, not just because of the characters that you can't help but love (hero or villain), but the poetic style in which Garber writes.
Bring on Finale.

Paul T (21 KP) rated This War of Mine: The Board Game in Tabletop Games
Jun 30, 2019 (Updated Sep 2, 2019)
Super thematic (4 more)
Amazing solo mode
Complex and challenging
Darker themes
Great components
Best solo, okay with no more than 3 (3 more)
Darker themes if its not your style
Very stressful due to some random luck and how immersed you become in the story
Very difficult (if its not your thing)

JUMPCUT ONLINE (77 KP) rated Child's Play (2019) in Movies
Jun 30, 2019
It’s hard to touch the 1988 film, and in many ways this one doesn’t touch its mastery, but it makes its case as a proper remake. A true classic never goes out of style, but Klevberg delightfully reimagines it all together.
