Auburn (57 KP) rated Ivory and Bone (Ivory and Bone, #1) in Books
Apr 10, 2019
I have had this recommend to me so many times that I really wanted to give it a shot. Unfortunately from page one I was lost. The writing as if I was Kol and I was writing the story was hard to grasp and turned me off.
While I enjoyed the world and the struggles I just couldn't get past the writing style. Maybe I will give it another shot down the line.

Danielle Chaplin (81 KP) rated The Essex Serpent in Books

Decent story
This had the promise of being a really good story with a slight fantasy element to it but it just didn't seem to pull it off for me. The characters were a little strange and hard to follow, and the flow was a little off but the descriptions were vivid and brought the world to life and I liked that there were such diverse range of characters in the story.
starwarsluvr (236 KP) rated Entering HELL Part ONE in Books
Jan 30, 2018
This one was good and different. the new twists on satan and vampires and hell and god.. the adventures that happened... the style of writing leaves you wanting more and needing to know what happens next.. there was also time travel in this story and that was enjoyable as well. a couple spots got a little bit confusing for me but overall it was really good story and im glad i got to review it
ArecRain (8 KP) rated Carnal Deceptions in Books

While there was nothing wrong with Barrett's style, I set this novel down upon finishing it, feeling that something was slacking. Yes, the erotic scenes, or what few there were, were well-written,and the plot line was interesting enough. And yet, I feel like there something missing from her work, just as I felt with The Viscount's Addiction. I cannot quite place my finger on it, yet it leaves me unfulfilled.
The memories of the man who rose from head of advertising for Disneyland in 1955 to become its first president in the late 80's and early 90's. As a Disnerd, I loved this inside look at the park's history, although the writing style could have been a little better.

Katie Greenwood (0 KP) rated the Nintendo Switch version of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild in Video Games
Jul 17, 2018
Graphics (3 more)
Large world to explore
Good replay value
RPG with no linear storyline
I am a Zelda fan. BOTW is an awesome game but does break from the traditional gameplay style. You are free to pursue the quests in your own way.
I highly recommend a guide if you hope to get all of the extras.
You will die which took me a while to get used to.

NerdGeek (155 KP) rated Chuck - Season 1 in TV
Jul 2, 2018
The world's favorite nerd
I wasn't sure about this show at first, I'll admit. When I first started watching, I thought "great another spy show. Like we don't have enough of those." But Chuck won me over with his awkward nerdy style, that somehow won over the ladies and helped him save the world a time or two. Chuck made nerds cool again.
Lou (7 KP) rated Prophecy of the Sisters in Books

This book started off pretty slow but did pick up towards the end...
However, I did feel like I had points where I struggled to read it or didn’t really want to pick it up and carry it on even though it had it’s really good moments.
I’m not sure if I will continue to read the series but if I do I’ll be sure to keep you all updated!

David McK (3419 KP) rated Ship of Rome (Masters of the Sea, #1) in Books
Jan 30, 2019
Quite an unusual setting: the Roman Republic (not yet an Empire) at sea, during the early stages of what would later become known as the first Punic War between Rome and Carthage.
Plenty of novels focusing on Roman Legions: this is the only I can think of focusing on their fledging navy. Definitely in the style of Cornwell, Scarrow et al so if you like that kind of historical fiction, you'll probably like this too.

Charlotte Ozanne (108 KP) rated the PC version of Two Point Hospital in Video Games
Nov 12, 2019
Fun take on Tycoon style game (2 more)
Comedic value; fun, light humour
Good strategy involved
Can be monotonous (1 more)
Limited story
If you are a fan of Theme Hospital, this is perfect for you, as this is effectively a modern-day remake of that game. If you like Tycoon games, I would recommend this game. Any game that has good, light humour is worth a try, in my opinion. You can't go far wrong with this.
