Leah (: (569 KP) rated Love Me (Keatyn Chronicles book 4) in Books
Jul 26, 2018
Each book starts exactly where the last one finished, which is great as there is no need for a re cap and fits perfectly with the diary style of writing.
Keatyn is really staring to grow as a person and you can begin to see her as an adult not just a spoilt child like she appeared at first.
You will continue to be annoyed by the boys in Keatyn’s like as at times they all seem like idiots and that she shouldn’t chose them. Although I am 100% for Aiden.

I found this one on Amazon. It's a haunted house style "horror" movie. The acting is pretty weak and the story is not scary or anything even remotely close to it. The cinematography is mediocre. It's about a pregnant woman who keeps having strange things happen in her new house and no one else does or believes her and they tell her she's crazy. They have one character try to explain things toward the end of the movie but it's an extremely weak explanation. Overall this movie just isn't very good. NOT worth a watch.

I think I would've liked this book more if the format of it would've adhered to a more conventional style of writing. In saying that, I mean quotation marks for dialogue would've been great. In the author's defense, there were some peppered throughout the story -- some.
The story was fine. I have no complaints. The bouts of activism depicted therein were apropos for our time. The book is worth reading in the sense it's a classic and shouldn't be overlooked as it does have imaginative and creative merit.

Re-read 2018:
I completely stand by my 4* rating and first review. This was an extremely enjoyable read.
But, one note I will add is this: My re-read was because I could remember very, very little of the story. And I reckon, given another year, I will have likely forgotten it all over again.
First review 2015:
I feel all warm and fuzzy. And smiley.
This was adorable.
Less-is-more writing style; relatable characters; intriguing thread of mystery: A wonderful story -well paced and very satisfying.

Jo (37 KP) rated The Upside of Unrequited in Books

This is one of those books where, although I really enjoyed reading it, I then went and checked a couple of negative reviews and thought 'yeah, I agree with many of your points'.
So, my actual rating is, like, 3.5.
Because, okay, I liked the writing style, I loved Reid, the diversity was fab, and it was full of smooshy fuzz-filled moments, but...
I feel Will's vagueness deserves the deduction of half a point.
Molly's repetitive whines lose this another half.
And, then, the ending did fall rather flat.

Yoshi (40 KP) rated Megatokyo, Volume 3 in Books

Megatokyo is by far my favorite webcomic. I cannot tell you how many times it has made me cry after spending about 5 minutes laughing my head off because it is that funny. Although you can read it on line for free, it is better to read it in book form if you can find it because it flows more easily that way. In my opinion this is probably the volume where the story starts getting really good, and the writer's art style has improved from the first book.

Didn’t live up to its promise
I really wanted to like this movie. I wanted it to be awesome, to make me shiver and look over my own shoulder. But despite three thrilling trailers, I found the back and forth style of narrative to be distracting from the story. I’d have preferred just straight narrative, beginning to end.
Other than that, it was cool that everyone sees something different, but not knowing what they are seeing made the horror less for me. Good try, but it just didn’t quite make it in my book.

Well done
This one surprised me. Wasn't sure what to expect as it was under the "horror" section. It's not really a 'scary' movie but it was very entertaining. Started off a little slow but once it got going there were plenty of twists and turns throughout. The cinematography was good and the acting was done really well. This is another fine example of a movie not needing a huge budget to be done right. If you're a fan of crime/thriller style movies this one is gor you. Really worth a watch!

Katey Bassett (610 KP) rated House Of Leaves in Books

I really have a hard time putting into words how I feel about this book...it was certainly confusing at the beginning and I ended up having to reread certain passage over numerous times for me to understand where things were currently and where they were progressing to. It's one of the, if not the, most complex written books and the author definitely has an incredible unique reading style. I would highly suggest putting a serious chunk of time away to be able to concentrate on the writing and what is actually being said.

I am little late, to put it mildly, with reading this book but better late than never I always say!
What a good read and one I'm pleased I didn't miss. Full of twists and turns, excellent characters, gripping story and a great writing style this is a great debut and one I would recommend to the few people out there who, like me, are a bit late joining the party!
Thanks go to Little, Brown Book Group UK via NetGalley for my copy in return for an honest review.
