The Umbrella Academy - Season 2

It follows the theme of the previous season, and doesn't try away from tackling bigger issues (0 more)
Not quite as gripping as the first season (0 more)
Enjoyable watch

Just like the first season, season 2 is full of random jokes, questionable choices and mayhem that seems to follow these siblings. After traveling back in time to escape the apocalypse the siblings are spat out in the 1960s, each finds thier own way to adapt and makes a life, until in typical style they discover the end of the world followed them back too.
The season doesn't shy away from some of the bigger topics of the 60s and today, including racism and homophobia. They are well portrayed and addressed and fit in well with the overall storyline.
However, I did not find this season as gripping as the first, but I can't put my finger on why that is.

Competent but slightly underwhelming action comedy feels like one of those films which invites an 'it's .... meets ....' kind of description. My attempt would be that it's Clerks colliding with the Bourne Identity, as useless stoner Jesse Eisenberg discovers he is actually a brainwashed CIA assassin in line for termination by his employers. What will his girlfriend Kristen Stewart (yes, he's probably punching above his weight a bit) say?

The basic idea is sort of funny, but for this to work as a comedy it would need considerably better jokes, and while the action is competently staged (gory, though) it's not done with the style or scope to make the film distinctive. Not actually bad - reasonable performances and the script has a solid structure - but not accomplished or entertaining enough to really stand out. As it is, feels like an Edgar Wright pastiche, if there's such a thing, but very pedestrian.

Perfect summer read
The perfect summer read! It's one of those books you wish you were lying in a Mediterranean country on a sun bed next to a pool with nothing else to do but absolutely devour this book.

The Husband's secret really rocks the world of those around him, not just his only family but many others too. I loved the skipping between the different families and there was some really great cliff hangers throughout because of this writing style.

Didnt see the chain of events coming together at all. Loved the majority of the characters and felt they were well embellished and thought out.

My only slight criticism is around Felicity, Will and Liam's family as I'm not sure how they really fit into the overall plotline. Perhaps they were there to take you away from the overall story?! Loved the book nonetheless.

I enjoyed this more than I thought I would! I found it a bit rushed in places but overall a really good concept! YA are hot and miss lately but I do like Rebecca Royces writing style! This is just another good book from her!
