Surreal Horror
This intrigued me after seeing mixed reviews and I guessed that it was going to be something very different to the norm. The problem with films like this is they can be misleading. It starts like a drama, then takes what you think might be in a romantic film direction and then flips it on its head to become something entirely different. I didn't mind that as I had an idea this would have a weird twist. It ends up having several. Not a bad story and the lead characters are good actresses. Maybe the story becomes a bit too surreal by the end that it loses some credibility. If you don't take it seriously you should enjoy it more.

Oh dear Eve
I didn't think there was going to be a 4th series after the ending of the 3rd. After watching this maybe they should have stuck at 3. It's not at the same level as the previous series, not as witty, funny and feeling a bit rushed towards the end.
The first few episodes are very odd and a bit surreal and don't fit in. After getting back on track of finding out more about the 12 it then all comes to a very quick conclusion in the last couple of episodes. Still has some funny scenes and a bit more back story to some characters. Overall though a 4th series we didn't need.

A pretty decent western with a quality cast. It is very much a tracking a man on the run film, a very dangerous man as it happens. It is wonderfully shot as the backdrop changes from the snowy mountains, forests, open plains and into the desert. It gets a little surreal in the final third but still an interesting film.

"I read this book when I was working a night shift, going to sleep at 6 p.m. and waking up at 2 a.m. each day. My surreal, hazy existence during those weeks was a perfect fit with the world of 1Q84, where everything seems just a little bit off. It's recognizable as the world you live in, and also somehow not."

"It’s the perfect genre movie. It’s brilliant I every aspect. It deals with some very complex subjects and is done masterfully. Even the dream sequences were so advanced at the time, the way [director Roman Polanski] made it surreal like a dream has to be, but very economic. I love every aspect and I watch it over and over again."

"If David Lynch is the American take on surrealism, this is the Soviet take. Iranians share a lot of cultural references with people from Armenia, and seeing this, I almost saw a path through Iranian culture. The movie juxtaposes surreal elements from my culture without going through a Western gaze. It has some of the most amazing imagery I’ve ever seen."

"LaValle writes horror, but horror as a way to move in closer to the complexities of our minds and our society. This novel takes the reader on a wild coast-to-coast journey that begins in an unusual library in a forest and includes many vividly memorable scenes, allowing for amazing, surreal access to our protagonist's psyche and the inner workings of America."
