Momoverseas (2 KP) rated Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine in Books
Sep 24, 2019
Where do I start.. this lady was driving me nuts, she was so annoying I thought I might just give up and then I realized what's behind all this weird behavior and at the very end I cried because she is a true survivor, true heroin. I absolutely love this book, it made me have so many different feelings, this is something that everyone should read and digest. Truly amazing book!

David McK (3562 KP) rated Lara Croft - Tomb Raider (2001) in Movies
Nov 2, 2024 (Updated Nov 2, 2024)
Early noughties film based in the 90s series of video games of the same name (snore the so-called 'Survivor' trilogy), with Angelina Jolie embodying Lara Croft far more, IMO, than Alicia Vikander would ever do.
The plot?
Completely nonsensical (something to do with The Illuminati and the control of time) but you don't watch these types of movies for the plot but to be entertained instead...

Suswatibasu (1703 KP) rated Man's Search for Meaning: The Classic Tribute to Hope from the Holocaust in Books
Sep 15, 2017
Harrowing and important
I wish I concentrated on this more. There are some very important and valid points Viktor Frankl makes, especially given the author is also a psychiatrist and a survivor of the Holocaust. It is extremely traumatic and harrowing hearing his experiences in several concentration camps, and how he changed his attitude in order to stay alive.
Frankl concludes that man's search for purpose and meaning in life gives his ability to survive.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2346 KP) rated Summer of the Big Bachi (Mas Arai, #1) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Mas Arai is a Japanese American man and survivor of Hiroshima. When a man from his past comes back into his life, he must face things he felt were hidden during World War II. The book is well plotted and the characters are good, but I really struggled to get into it.

I really enjoyed this collection of survivor stories. This was truly inspirational. At this moment, I have been dealing with some personal drama that has made me give up hope. It was truly a blessing that I found this novel as a Kindle First novel.
This book shows that we can all survive horrid situations. This is a good book if you're wanting an inspirational novel that shows the strength of survivors or horrid situations.

Great cast (2 more)
Great actors
One of the best twists ever!
Simply brilliant
Amazing film on quite a low budget but with some brilliant scenes. The acting is top notch which helps make the film so simple yet effective. Told in retrospect as a survivor tells the story that led to a big shoot out. This film has one of the most famous twists in cinema. If you have missed it put it to the top of your list!

Four in a Grave
This. Book.
I have no words.
But I will try my absolute best, to sum up my feelings.
This book is about Tessa who is the only living survivor of a serial killer who buried her alive along with three other girls. Their grave was then covered with 'black-eyed Susans' which are a yellow flowered weed (hence the title of the book)

Jessica Erdas (463 KP) rated State of Decay in Video Games
Jul 18, 2019
State of Decay is the zombie game you didn't know you needed. In order to survive, you must not only rescue survivors but also scavenge for materials such as lumber, food, ammo, and medicine. You go on a side missions to help your fellow survivor communities. The map is fairly large and will keep you fairly busy exploring. Be warned, if a character dies, their death is permanent and will affect the moral of the other survivors.

Kevin Phillipson (10072 KP) rated Hatchet II (2010) in Movies

Kane hodder (2 more)
Tony Todd
Danielle Harris
Just watched the second hatchet movie more of the same from Victor crowley as he takes on hunters who have come into his swamp looking for him with the survivor of the first film. Not as good as the first film but plenty of gore and some nasty kills bigger role this time from Tony Todd as rev zombie. But the real star once again is kane hodder as Victor . Thumbs up from me
