The plot: Detective Riggs (Mel Gibson) tries to settle down with his pregnant girlfriend, Lorna (Rene Russo), while his partner, Murtaugh (Danny Glover), comes to grips with the marriage of his pregnant daughter, Rianne (Traci Wolfe), to fellow cop Butters (Chris Rock). But they find themselves and their families targeted by Chinese mobsters, led by Wah Sing Ku (Jet Li). Riggs, Murtaugh, Butters and private eye Getz (Joe Pesci) decide to go on the offensive before the gangsters get to their loved ones.
Like i said before its a beautiful send off for this franchise.

The premise sounded interested. Kind of like a full film version of the opening scene from Speed (which was surprisingly tense). However this is nothing of the sort. There's no suspense or intrigue or real tension, despite the confined space. It's full of entirely cliched and unlikeable characters, all with rather predictable stories. I picked the bomber on this literally within the first few minutes, and it didn't get much better from them. The plot is just stupid and it makes no sense that these people are stuck in a lift for such a long time without any help. And the ending is just laughable.
There's nothing particularly likeable about this film at all, it's your typical second rate straight to dvd type movie. I've only marked it as high as I have due to have laughably bad it was.

Matthew Krueger (10051 KP) rated Conspiracy Theory (1997) in Movies
Jul 22, 2020
The plot: New York City cabbie Jerry Fletcher (Mel Gibson) is an expert on paranoid conspiracy theories. He is also infatuated with government lawyer Alice Sutton (Julia Roberts), who permits his attention because he once rescued her from a mugging. However, when Jerry is captured and put through psychotic tests by Dr. Jonas (Patrick Stewart), he realizes there is an actual conspiracy. After escaping, Jerry enlists Alice's help, but she wonders whether he has uncovered a real threat or is just insane.
Its has good drama, suspense, thrills and some action, but its still a good movie.
