Cumberland (1142 KP) rated The Summer I Turned Pretty (Summer, #1) in Books

Sweet Summer Love Story
I was a little bit unsure of this book, because of the name. I was afraid it was going to be one of those stereotypical books where the girl gets skinny/ discovers make up/ something happens that suddenly makes her pretty, and all the boys notice her. I was pleasantly suprised that it was a lot more than that. Yes it is stated that Belly was prettier than in the past, but all the boys in the story had reasons to like her that went beyond looks. At 16 Belly is starting to act more like an adult, and that plays a large role in drawing the boys attention.
This book also did a great job showing that the characters had more going on than just a teen romance. I read this in a day, and would highly suggest it to anyone looking for a fun new read.

Next in the independence Island series…Scrumptious Independence by Melissa Wardwell! I have been looking forward to this book for months. and boy was it worth the wait. I loved her balance of character interaction with the emotions and memories she invoked in me through her characters. It truly was a fun book to read that I had a hard time putting down.
I thought Melissa Wardwell did a great job engaging not just your eyes but your memories too! From her yummy sounding recipes (that may or may not have set off a cooking spree, much to my husband’s delight), to the hints of a mystery within, added with a dash of super sweet romance between Beth and Scott… I mean what more can I say? This book is a recipe for a good clean engaging read. Well done Melissa Wardwell, now I can’t wait to see what will happen on the Merriweather Islands next

TravelersWife4Life (31 KP) rated Forsaken Island (The Dancing Realms #2) in Books

How do you even write a review for a book that you find so amazing you can barely put it into words... That is the real question.
After hearing so many good things about Hidden Current I knew I had to read Forsaken Island, and I am so glad I did. Sharon Hinck’s style is like that of C. S. Lewis, and J.R. Tolkien. She has such a unique and compelling storyline with an allegorical style that I. ABSOLUTELY. LOVED. It was beautiful to read and filled with some great truths about life, God, and finding our purpose in life. With mystery, intrigue, and a light sweet romance woven into every page.
Carya and Brantley are some of the sweetest characters I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Carya is strong, passionate, and eager to learn what the Maker has for her to do. Brentley is also strong, caring, and an adventurous planner

I found this story quite refreshing after reading a deep and complex novel, and it was what I needed at this time. This is “don’t judge a book by its cover” kind of situation because the cover does not look very appealing, but it does carry an interesting story. I really liked Veronica and Sebastian in this story, they were very realistic and just generally sweet people. I really enjoyed the narrative as well. I liked that the author discussed family issues and grasped a very nice angle to utilise it for this story. I really enjoyed the little surprises which the author had to offer as well. The writing style was pleasant and easy to read, and the ending was very unexpected but completed this story very nicely.
So, to conclude, if you like ghost stories with a hint of romance, do give this story a go, and I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did

I really liked this.
This is only the third full-length mm romance I've read and like the other two, it was a sort of mystery/thriller.
I liked both characters. They were both really likable and I enjoyed reading their story, though the whole on again/off again thing drove me a bit potty at times, but I have to say the on again bits were both hot and sweet.
As for the bad guy, I had my suspicions from about mid-way through just because he seemed to be in the right place at the right time. I felt the ending, in regards to the bad guy, was a little bit of an anti-climax for me (but by then I was more interested in Ty's safe recovery than how the bad guy got his comeuppance)
I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series to see what else these two get up to :D

In a well ordered universe I wouldn't be left with so many questions! I loved this book,it's a story about friendship and finding out who you really are when your not in someone elses shadow. No matter how much you love and admire that person. As someone with social anxiety, I found Emily to be very relatable, and much braver than I if I had been handed this list. This book took me back to being a teenager and some of the summers I had, (none as eventful as this story!) A story of friendship and romance! My only little niggle is I want to know if she mends things with Dawn and Collins and if Gideon finds his perfect girl ( I have a rather large soft spot for him) In truth I wanted Emily to fall in love with him instead because he seemed so sweet, but I can't have everything!
Leanne Crabtree (480 KP) rated Offside (The Barker Triplets, #1) in Books

I enjoyed this.
Though how those triplets are related, I'll never know. They're always arguing and b*tching about one thing or another in each others lives and it drove me wild whenever they were together in the same room. I get sibling rivalry, but jeez! They were vicious.
As for the romance between Billie-Jo and Logan, I really liked it. It was slow and sweet and had me sighing at certain parts.
I liked the storyline, a female ex-professional ice hockey player playing on an all men's team and showing them that she's good enough to do it and in most cases better than them.
The bits we saw of Bobbie-Jo kinda made me like her, though I'm sure I'll come to like her fully when I read her and Shane's story. As for Betty-Jo, she seemed like a bit of a b*tch with what she did to Billie in this and at present I'm not a fan.
