Great cast chemistry (1 more)
Good mix of humour and action
Very good action TV show
One of my regular TV series I watch. Been watching from the start, it's been going 10 years now with the 11th Series coming later this year. Always a good mix of humour with action scenes and shoot outs. If you watch from the start the characters stories over the series are very good. Definitely one of the better long running series around.

David McK (3562 KP) rated Galaxy Quest (1999) in Movies

Never give up, never surrender!
The best not Star Trek Star Trek film, where the washed up stars of an old TV show (the Galaxy Quest of the title) - think 1960s Star Trek - are mistaken for the real thing by actual aliens, and brought aboard their space ship (modelled after that from the TV show), in order to negotiate a ceasefire against their foe.
Worth watching for Alan Rickman's Dr Lazarus alone, never mind Sigourney Weaver or Tim Allen...

Eleanor (1463 KP) rated The Handmaid's Tale in Books

It’s rare that I prefer a film or TV series to the book it is based on but I think this may be the exception. Having only seen the 1st series on TV I thought I’d give the book a go and although the world-building lives up to what I’d expect the story itself is slow and not as tense.
It’s scary and an all believable world that Atwood creates but the telling seemed bogged down in details over the mundane.
I probably spoiled myself seeing the TV series first but I’d recommend that to all. I feel the theme has been gone over plenty so won't rehash but it's a worthwhile story however you decide to consume it.

Mel (490 KP) rated Codename Villanelle (Killing Eve #1) in Books
Oct 6, 2019
I admit that I picked this book up because I'd been watching the TV series. Unlike some others who I'd seen review this before I didn't mind too much that the book wasn't as detailed and didn't match up 100% with the TV series. You have to accept that tv/film adaptations and the original books are very different mediums and try and judge them accordingly. I must admit I don't always succeed in this myself but I usually manage better when the book comes second.
I did like the fact that the book is more focused on Villanelle rather than Eve, I liked having that different viewpoint. Definitely worth a quick read if you fancy a bit more to sit alongside the series.
