Young Frankenstein (1974)
Young Frankenstein (1974)
1974 | Classics, Comedy, Horror

"The next movie would probably be Young Frankenstein. I remember going to see that as a kid. Because I loved all the Universal horror films, but I had only seem them on TV, like on Creature Double Feature on Friday afternoons. By that point I loved Gene Wilder, because I made the connection like, “Oh, that guy was in Willy Wonka. Now he’s in Young Frankenstein.” So that movie blew me away. And even to this day, I watch it all the time. It’s such an incredible movie because it’s really, really funny, with such incredible performances, but it’s so beautifully made. Nobody would spend the time now to make a comedy that well. Visually and technically, it’s so incredible. It doesn’t date; it holds up. Peter Boyle’s perfect, and Madeline Kahn and Gene Wilder, and everybody. It’s just an incredible movie. It really captured the feel of those Universal films, like Bride of Frankenstein, yet it is really funny. It’s something that almost never works. You know, kind of look at the Munsters on TV, and the Addams family, where you could get into it and they have the art direction there and everyone’s funny, but it almost never works. It’s almost always a disaster, and that film is just so perfect. I think the fact that people were brave enough back then to release black-and-white movies."

"This one isn’t a high school movie, but more a college-age movie. It’s called Mazes and Monsters and it stars Tom Hanks. It’s about the dangers of role-playing games, and if you play these role-playing games, you’ll lose touch with reality. Tom Hanks is a kid who gets too into their version of Dungeons and Dragons, which they call Mazes and Monsters. He loses touch with reality and thinks he really is on the quest, and disappears into New York City. His friends have to try and find him. It’s definitely worth checking out if you can find it. It might be one of those movies that just disappeared. I think it was a made-for-TV movie, but it’s always affected me. I saw it when I was a kid on the Saturday afternoon matinee movie, and it just has this ending that is so bleak that I’ll never forget."

Awix (3310 KP) rated Network (1976) in Movies

Network (1976)
Network (1976)
1976 | Comedy, Drama
Acclaimed satirical comedy-drama; impressively prescient look at American media. Long-serving newscaster is victim of falling ratings, has breakdown and threatens to commit suicide on live TV: network execs are appalled until it transpires this has caused a spike in viewing figures, so they give him a job as a ranting news gimp.

Smartly written and well-performed; slight tendency towards speechifying rather than actual dialogue in the closing stages, but at least the speeches are good. Movie predicts rise of reality TV and collapse in news values with eerie accuracy, also the potential power of rabble-rousing TV demagogues (chief rabble-rouser does not complain about fake news, but it's a near thing). On another level, film is basically just cinema being snotty about how television is a more juvenile and morally bankrupt medium - 1976 was one of the very last years they could do this without it seeming like massive hypocrisy.

An Absolute Must-Have
This has to be one of my most-used apps, one I go to on an almost daily basis. We use it for settling arguments over what else an actor has been in, the names of people we can't quite recognise, who the familiar voice in an animation belongs to, if a TV channel has missed out episodes of a series that is being shown and even the dates when a new series is due to be broadcast. One of my favourite things is that it also tells you the filming locations for TV shows and films. I really is a one-stop app for almost all the information you could possibly want to know about movies and shows. I have it installed on my phone, my Kindle and my tablet, and frequently use the website. I would hate to be without it now!

Disney tv movie can't remember if it was a wonderful world of Disney or a Disney channel movie based on the tower of terror ride. It is the anniversary of the disappearance of kid actor Sally shine and 4 other people who disappeared when lightning hit the Hollywood tower hotel. Disgraced reporter buzzy played by Steve Guttenberg gets a visitor and decided to go there to take a story with his niece played by Kristen dunst. Is the story true, are there ghosts, evil forces, or nothing but dust in this tower only watching it will you find out. A little cheesy but good Disney fare.

Set a couple of months after the movie ends, Veronica is hired to find a college student who vanished from a party during spring break. With the tourist industry in town losing money, can Veronica find this girl?

The plot was worth of the franchise with some great twists and turns. The characters were also true to themselves, and I loved spending time with them. My only real complaint was that I missed the snark of Veronica's voiceover narration from the TV show and movie.

Just watched I wouldn't normally watch toy story occasionally watched the the first three when they are on the tv. So as I had else to watch and I had Disney + I thought I would give the forth one a watch is as good as the others I would say yes the movie gives closeure to woody and buzz and the other toys and brings back bo beep who was missing from the third movie and theres the ending truly an ending that made me almost shed a tear no spoilers there from me
