There was a gift pack available in Easons, with said sealed pack including 2 sci-fi film magazines, and one of six Star Trek novels. As the pack was sealed, there was obviously no way of knowing which novel is in which pack.
When I purchased said pack, this is the novel that was in mine - if I'm honest, it's probably not one that I would have picked up in a bookstore, nor was it the novel I was hoping would be included.
Set during The Original Series era (i.e the original TV series) of Star Trek, this obviously therefore includes all the central character of said TV show: Captain James T Kirk, Scotty, Spock, Dr 'Bones' McCoy, etc. That is, the 'original' of those characters, rather than those in the more-recent J.J. Abrams reboot.
The plot has to do with Captain Kirk and co receiving a distress call while en-route to a diplomatic mission, and boarding a spaceship unlike any they have ever seen before, where (once again) the usual rules of time and space do not apply.
While readable enough, I have to say, it's also pretty forgettable, with nothing to really convince me to pick up other books by this author, or (while I admit it may be somewhat unfair to base my perception of the whole on this alone) to go looking for other Star Trek books unless they come highly recommended.

The premise and setting appealed to me, so I decided to give this one a try. Sadly, the structure let it down. We get a series of short stories that tie in to the overall mystery only slightly. They feel like side quests. We also have a framing story of Naomi talking about all of this to executives of her TV network. When I realized how different the structure would be, I tried to give it a fair shot, but it truly didn’t work for me. On the other hand, I loved the characters and the setting, and the writing brought them both to life wonderfully. Also, keep in mind that there’s a bit of foul language for what I would have otherwise considered a cozy. If the next in the series has a more traditional structure, I would definitely read it.

Nigel Holmes (16 KP) rated Millennium in TV

It was created by Chris Carter the legendary brain behind The X Files.
It follows former FBI Agent Frank Black who's job consists of catching the worst criminals ever imagined.
Frank has a special gift and along with the help of the mysterious Millennium Group he sets out attempting to catch the worst of the worst.
It's really gripping and intense balancing between the supernatural parts of the Bible and the end of the world as the millennium aproaches with lots of twists and turns.
This certainly was and is one of the best shows ever made.
You wouldn't be disappointed

Some great acting especially by the young kids who played the accused, they played the scenes where they were forced into giving confessions by the police amazingly.A good supporting cast as well (John leguizamo..vera farmiga) made this show a pleasure to watch.Leaves you thinking at the end just how violent and racist the police were back in that time and how far they were prepared to go to get a confession.
Must see TV drama at it's best.
