A classic
I grew up watching Father Ted and loved it then, and I can't believe that over 20 years on, the original few series are still being shown on tv. They really don't make sitcoms like this anymore, it's such a classic and can beat any modern day sitcoms hands down.

You'd never think a comedy about priests on a small island would work, but its absolutely hilarious - mainly due to a great script and a fantastic cast and characters. Ted, Dougal, Jack and Mrs Doyle are such loveable comedic characters, it's hard not to like this show.

It's showing it's age a little now, unsurprising consider it first came out in 1995. Its a shame really that they were never able to make any more series, but in a way this is probably better than them taking it too far (or god forbid doing a modern day series). But it's still brilliant.

Yeesh
I don't even know where to start. I decided to read this series once coming across the best TV show ever based on the books and I just HAD to start from the beginning which is from this very first book. I couldn't put the book down and honestly read it within a day. This was the first book to a long way of books where I took books seriously and didn't have the urge to throw them away afterwards or shove them into a damp, dark place. I placed it neatly on a shelf. Already ready to buy the next one since I'm never one to like cliffhangers or not having more to the story. I'm a collector and once I like something. I become obsessed. I definitely recommend this book if you like the mysteries of a world that you hope exists and something written on a place that I myself actually dreamed of being in whether or not its in a book.

Early years education
As we are all spending our time at home & children's education is important, these may be worth your time.
As a parent myself I can assure you that although for an adult these can be mind numbing and rather boring, its good to know that there's tv to help home schooling.
Alphablocks is a British animated educational television programme that is designed to teach young children how to spell using animated blocks representing each letter. It is animated by Blue-Zoo and produced by Alphablocks Ltd.

Once the Alphablocks discover that whenever they make a word it comes to life, many new adventures in Alphaland can be created.
This is meant to help preschool children with learning the alphabet, spelling, reading and writing.

With it's bright colours & easy to understand dialogue, Alphablocks is a fun and intriguing show for kids.

Videodrome (1983)
Videodrome (1983)
1983 | Horror, Sci-Fi
Seminal Cronenberg movie, which, being a Cronenberg movie, doesn't easily fit into any other category. Jaded small-time TV executive becomes obsessed with what looks like a hard-core snuff channel, transmissions of which he stumbles across. But the Videodrome signal has a profound effect on his sense of reality and the world around him begins to warp into new shapes...

Starts off relatively conventionally (I say relatively: for instance, Debbie Harry plays a sado-masochistic radio talk-show host) but soon becomes a dense and challenging rumination on the place of the media in modern society and how we perceive the world - with the grotesque mutated imagery for which Cronenberg was then known, of course. A fascinating and powerful movie, still very timely, although it's clear that they couldn't think of an ending. Cronenberg chose to make this instead of directing Return of the Jedi: there's a parallel universe somewhere where the Ewoks were a lot more messed up.

Hey Smashbombers!

I wanted to tell you about a cool feature we have here on Smashbomb!

Did you know that you can link items that relate to each other? For example: a Movie that is based on a Book, you can link the Book and the Movie together - or link a Movie with the Movie soundtrack - or link a Tech item with a corresponding App - or a Podcast that is based on a TV Show.

You can link these related items together to help us all discover more items!

It's really easy to do, simply go to one of the relevant items, for example Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (MOVIE), click edit, scroll down to 'related items' and search for the other item, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (BOOK) - then hit 'SAVE' and the items will be linked, just like the picture example below!

Hopefully you will find this feature helpful,
Happy Reviewing & Linking!
Ollie.

All I want to be able to do in my boring quarantine life is to be able to add DLC to Video Game items in the same way you can add seasons to TV items. I'm just sad like that 😭
