Amazing read!!!!! I could not put the book down. I was unsure how this horror story was going to play out as I am not familiar with the myth but can say that it was very well written and not in the slightest gory. This story is very chilling, creepy, fast paced, and above all nail biting exciting. The writer has created characters that drew me in from the beginning, from Jemima, her Great Uncle Tomaz, crazy Mary (homeless lady), the kids at school (bullies/school crushes), to the hateful school governess. These characters were beautifully crafted and well written.

NOTE: A few may find the sexual element of this book unsettling; however, I think the author was tactful in writing about the taboo subject in this horror novel and handled it very well.

Trigger warning: miscarriage (0 more)
Yikes

This movie started off as a fun, mindless romp but in the second half of the movie, one of the characters pretends to have a miscarriage and it is used as a joke among the other characters. As a woman who endured four traumatic miscarriages, this was a very dark turn for me and I could not focus so much on the movie as my nerves were made raw from their callous treatment of a sensitive, traumatic event that happens to more women than you think. Miscarriage has been a taboo topic in society and women have had to suffer in silence. It should not be used so lightly as a plotline in a freaking comedy. As I said, it ruined the movie for me and I do not recommend it.

This book was recommended to me by my barista and I'm so glad that read it. It was truly hilarious! I couldn't help but laugh when reading/listening to it.

First off, I normally don't truly laugh when reading a book but I found myself laughing (really laughing) throughout this book. This book was disgusting, horrifying, hilarious, and I would recommend it to anyone that likes something unique, and crass.

The characters are definitely interesting and I kept wondering what else could happen. The twists and turns were exhilarating and I felt like I was on a roller coaster that wanted to not only make you say "What the F***" but laugh while you were shooting down to your inevitable doom.

If you want something fun, unique, and a little taboo definitely read this!

"I’m a huge Nicole Holofcener fan. I love the details of what she explores in relationships between friends. I think money is still a fairly taboo subject, maybe the only one left, and so I thought it was such an incredible way to explore friendships and marriages and lives intertwined between families and people with different levels of money. I was just so enchanted by that movie when I saw it. And every time I’ve seen it since, I find myself relating to a different character and having a different feeling when I watch a marital argument or something. It always opens up something new. I see something different in it every time. I think she just is one of the great storytellers when it comes to just human stories and our relationships."
