Onward (2020)
Onward (2020)
2020 | Adventure, Animation, Comedy
I'll keep this one relatively short - Onward is fucking delightful. It's brimming with charm, it's emotionally exhausting, it's full of colour.

It feels different for Pixar. The opening scenes feel more like a Dreamworks effort, but it's not long before the studio's signature stamp is prominent. The narrative is imaginative, and emotionally draining. I'm a goddam grown man and I 100% was welling up on multiple occasions. I'm a big brother who has always hoped that my younger brother looks up to me, and I frequently feel that I don't always get it right, so this screenplay really got me. Right in the feels.
It also happens to have a damn fine voice cast just to seal the deal.

Onward is genuinely brilliant. Seeing Pixar's take on the realm of Tolkien-esque fantasy is wonderful, and it deserves to stand up with the studio's very best productions. Now excuse me whilst I go and cry into a pillow.

So. Right odf the hop. I must say I appreciate a French movie that splices in some English from it's actors. Good on ya.
This movie kicks off about 15 or so minutes in.... With some desecration of a severed head... And an immediate beheading....
From there on out its brutality and fine special effects that take over. A beautifully placed twist near the end provides an unexpected, at least to me, WHAT THE FUCK moment.
All in all this is a must watch for all foreign horror fans... Its right up there woth fellow French films Martyrs and Inside.... As well as Korea's I Saw The Devil.

Blazing Minds (92 KP) rated Game Night (2018) in Movies

Game Night (2018)
Game Night (2018)
2018 | Comedy, Mystery
So how funny could Game Night really be? That was the question I asked myself after seeing the hysterical trailer for the movie before its cinematical release, so now that Game Night has now arrived from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment on Digital Download and on Blu-ray™ and DVD. It was time for me to check out the movie on Blu-ray.

Game night stars Jason Bateman (the “Horrible Bosses” films, TV’s “Arrested Development,” TV’s “Ozark”) and Oscar nominee Rachel McAdams (“Spotlight,” “Dr. Strange”) as they take Game Night’s to an extreme, this is not just about sitting at home playing Monopoly or Cluedo, this is about taking the evening a step further into hysterical situations.

I did not enjoy this novel. I felt like it dwelt too long on the little aspects that didn't really mean much in the whole of the story.

The temporality of the story was confusing at times. It would jump back and forth between some past and the present and even the future at points. Yes, it added to the confusion of time that the crew would have been feeling on the boat, but it just didn't do anything for me.

It was pretty predictable, for me, as to what was going to happen during the novel. I felt very underwhelmed, especially when my teacher told me this was going to be such an amazing novel.

The pacing was either too slow or rushed through things that were important to the plot. There was no real in between for it.

Even the characters started getting on my nerves throughout the novel. The way that everyone treated Bernardo and the way they looked up to Elias and Mark felt too forced for me to really be able to enjoy the novel.

I don't give out low stars like this often, but I felt like this one was necessary. For me, personally, I did not enjoy this novel at all. I didn't feel any take-away from it which was really disappointing.

In [The Other Side of the Island] the author[Allegra Goodman] gives us a very interesting take on our possible future. The Corporation and Earth Mother are building the Enclosure over the (now flooded) Earth to protect the people. The question is at what cost does this protection come and what are you willing to sacrifice?

The book was an excellent read and as the author intended left me with questions. I will be highly recommending this book to my students.

Very useful tool
It's a very useful tool as long as you have enough service when starting out. It gets me where I need to go when I'm not sure of what road to take it which way will be fastest. It's also good at showing you nearby places like gas stations, coffee shops, and restaurants.

The most popular terrible game since monopoly
This is a game where you stab your friends in the back as you play king of the hill essentially. people gang up on the leader, and the game only ends when someone take a substantial lead.... which means the game can and does go on, and on, and on, and on, and on, until people get frustrated and don't want to play any more and give up and let someone win.... kinda like monopoly.... If you like these games, go out and get one of the 15,000 expansion and themed versions.... if you like boardgames to be strategic and have challenging choices and interesting mechanics, look elsewhere. I've played this game 4 times over 10 years, and each one reminded me why I didn't play it for so long between.... I will not be tricked again. I veto this on game nights.....

"This record convinced me that no matter what anyone said about making music as a career that I had to try. I didn’t know if I’d “make it” or if I will yet, but I knew that when I heard this record I had to try. I’ve always heard Born to Run in my mother’s car, but it wasn’t until my late teenage years and early twenties that I understood what was being said here. To me, this was my ticket out. Born to Run gave me the permission to leave everything sensible and practical behind and go for my own dreams. It still makes me pause when I hear those piano intros on ""Thunder Road"" and ""Backstreets."" In the same way Greetings From Asbury Park, N.J. spoke to me as a teenager, this record spoke to the guy in his twenties who really wasn’t very good at much, except maybe music, and that was a big maybe. It also comforted me in times of great heartache and self doubt. This is an encouraging record. It’s a masterpiece. I would take this record over almost any other “classic” album by any artist."
