I haven't read a dystopian story in quite a while so this was a nice change. And I actually quite liked it. The storyline wasn't something I'd read before and I was intrigued how it would play out.
I was really into it until about 70% when it went a little awry for me. Aiden vanished from Keith's life for a while and like Keith I was a little WTF? And then I wasn't totally convinced by the reasoning behind it to start with...but the last 10% or so made up for it.
It was an interesting take on what the future might be like.

Apparently, this is the second time I've read this book. The thing is, I didn't remember reading it the first time. Except, that parts of the book were familiar making me question whether or not I've read it before.
If you want a good summer or travel book with a slow plot, that is an easy read, this is great for that. The story is well written if slightly forgettable it does take you on an interesting and emotional journey.
I completely get Martha's burn-out feeling and while we live a little too much in her head the other characters do have personality.

Fantastic Narration
I got this book as part of the Audibles Free Monthly Originals program. I was extremely excited when I saw this novella on the list. I've always appreciated John Scalzi's writing so I was excited to try this book out. The narrator (Zachary Quinto) was phenomenal. I love listening to audiobooks because, in rare moments, the narrator brings the story to life. This is one of those moments. Zachary Quinto breathed life into this book, his voices and acting were fantastic!
The plot of this novella kept me on the edge of my seat. I enjoyed the blend of science fiction and realism. This book though science fiction felt real. I could see this take place in the future. It almost had an Altered Carbon feel to it in a way.

I was hooked from the get-go. This is part of the Chasing Secrets series but, as far as I can tell, you don't have to read both. I think they are stand-alone.
Harper has been on the run for a long time, hiding her identity to stay safe from the drug cartel she was kidnapped by when she was younger. I don't want to say too much as I feel it would take away from the suspense that the story gives. It is so cleverly written, I found myself being pulled so far in that I was getting anxious that things wouldn't be fixed.
It is a recommendation by me. A fantastic mystery that keeps you on your toes.
