Kimmic (814 KP) rated The Cabin (The Cold Case Quartet #2) in Books
Sep 3, 2021
It normally takes me a day or 2 to finish these types of books. This is me giving up after 2 weeks! So boring. I just felt that the book went on and on and about the money, I'm over 50% in and we still know next to nothing, still talking about where the money COULD be from... I can't take it anymore. I'm avoiding reading just so I don't have to listen to this anymore and that is when I realised I needed to just quit else I will still be stuck on this book in July when I could be reading something I actually enjoy.

The New Year always makes me ponder on the passage of time. That also made me think about this highly creative novel, which is a carefully written and fascinating to read, despite the somewhat unbelievable aspect that anyone could have a genetic problem that causes them to travel in time. Find out what I thought of this best-selling debut novel by Audrey Niffenegger in my review here. http://drchazan.blogspot.com/2014/09/take-time-to-travel-with-this-book.html
Zuky the BookBum (15 KP) rated The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August in Books

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, it took me away from where I was at the time and completely sucked me into Harry's ever changing, disturbed and exciting life. Harry is such an excellent and interesting character! I found it so difficult to choose whether I even like Harry, he's a good guy, he's a bad guy and he's everything in between too.
This book is such an interesting take on normal time travel reads, it throws everything on its head.
The beginning of the book is slow to take off, you have to wait until around chapter 30 for things to finally start building and from there the book gets tenser, funnier and intriguing with every word.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a heavy and though provoking read.

Better than expected
I'm surprised at how good this actually was. It's a great take on a mockumentary, and probably the best I've seen in a long time. It helps if you've already seen heard some of the Lonely Island's music, as then you pretty much know what you're in for. There's some really funny bits in here, and the reference to 30 Seconds to Mars nearly had me rolling on the floor.

I like goodreads, sometimes I forget to update it as often as I should (that's on me) I take it to the library with me so I dont accidentally check-out the 13th book in a series. I also have the app open when I go book shopping since I have a big TBR list i try to find books discounted.

Tia (4 KP) rated Google Maps - GPS Navigation in Apps

Gets me where I need to go
This is the primary app I use to get me places. I sometimes travel for work so having this app has been a lifesaver. If there's a wreck or traffic issue coming up on my route, it automatically recalculates and gives me directions to go around it. All I need is the address of my destination and it will take me right to where I need to go. Let's not forget to mention the voice is very soothing when she's giving directions out loud. This is very handy when I'm in Georgia which is a hands off device hands free state. The only issue I have with it sometimes is when the road in trying to go on is closed or it tells me to do a u turn where there are signs visible that says to not do a u turn. But if I just keep driving or go a different way, it will automatically recalculate the route for me and gets me back the way I need to go. It does creep me out when I have GPS location services on and my phone asks me to rate and review what ever place I was at or drove by. But that can be stopped by turning off the location services GPS feature. This replaced the MapQuest website and it is also a good companion to fill the quiet when you are on road trips by yourself.
Leanne Crabtree (480 KP) rated Dead Until Dark (Sookie Stackhouse, #1) in Books

DNF @ page 80/326.
I've been reading this 10 days and only gotten 80 pages in, which just shows how much i wasn't enjoying this considering i finish most paperbacks in about 5 days. I only wanted to read this because of True Blood--I've only seen the first series of the show, and wasn't too impressed with that either--and sometimes i think the books are better than the shows/films but this book was so slow moving and the way it was written--so southern--was starting to grate on me. Sookie was annoying me and Bill seemed like the kind of vampire to run off from, not rescue and take on a date.
Not for me at all.
