First they found a desecrated body…
… then hell followed.
Four friends spend a weekend hiking in the woods, getting back to nature, never imagining they would end up being hunted.
But they soon stumble into the territory of the sick and twisted Webb family—psychopaths with a taste for human meat. And these monsters are hungry.
Will the group make it out of the woods alive? To do so, they will have to face these cannibals head-on, and unravel the secret behind the twisted family’s very existence.
You will love this brutal, gory, and violent horror story, because it raises the tension on every page and will leave you exhausted and drained.
Honestly it was well written,a strong story and decent characters. Also it was very middle of the road when it comes to these types of stories. I knew Tim was one of the from the Start it was made quite obvious. Overall a good and gory if not predictable.

This story was deep and thought-provoking in ways many books are not. It touched my mind and heart and I loved how Katie Powner showed the characters through real life, the ups and downs, and everything in between. I also enjoyed how the characters lived out their faith. A fantastic debut novel. Now I am looking forward to what other deep thought-provoking books that Katie Powner has in store.
*I volunteered to read this book in return for my honest feedback. The thoughts and opinions expressed within are my own.

We follow Debbie as she embarks on her first taste of adulthood. She’s eighteen and starting university. She lives in a little village on a dairy farm that her family owns and has no idea how it works being in the city most of the time. From the start of this book she is quite naive and you can tell that she’s not really had to step foot out of the comfort of the village she grew up in.
When she finally makes it into Dublin and to her new university she bumps into a girl named Xanthe who she makes friends with and spends most of her time with when she’s not at home or in class.
The book explores the mental health of many of the characters and does it very delicately, without judgement.
I couldn’t put it down and read it in a couple of hours. It was such a pleasant book. And I loved how the chapters were so short and the characters were just so loveable!
Thank you to Louise Nealon and Readers First for allowing me to read this wonderful book for free!

What makes the book a bit problematic for a modern reader is that some of the attitudes in it feel uncomfortably close to outright racism - it almost feels like a cautionary parable about what would happen if the traditional colonial roles were reversed and Africans were in a position of power over Europeans. That the book is a product of the era when the British Empire was dissolving is obvious, and the racial attitudes do impact on the story - protagonist and antagonist form an alliance at the end, despite a long history of bitter conflict between them, simply because they are both white men and the alternative is to allow Africans to dominate the UK. While the book should be considered in the context of its time, it still leaves a very sour taste in the mouth, quite unlike any of the author's other books.
