"There’s something about formalism that’s a little bit like music, and you can lose yourself in the joy of it when you make movies because it’s so much fun. This is one of those very rare subzero love stories, but it works because it’s like modernist poetry. It’s like when you have really hot food and you put it in the freezer and then you taste a little bit and you can sense that it was really hot but it’s been chilled down. Formalism doesn’t get any better than this, and every time I think about associative logic, this film is what I am thinking of."

"Russ Meyer’s magnum opus is a singular, nonstop whirlwind of a movie—and proof positive that the style of a work can also be its substance. Meyer was one of cinema’s most meticulous craftsmen and also one of the most innovative editors of the twentieth century. Beyond the Valley of the Dolls is a beautiful, visceral movie, and it’s so far ahead of its time that we’re still catching up with it. Nothing here is accidental. This is capital-A Art. Anyone who thinks this movie is “so bad it’s good” has no sense of taste or style and is probably bad in bed."

I was a little weary of starting this series. Tarryn isn't known for her HEAs. As much as I enjoyed Mud Vein, it was a bit dark for my taste - and Marrow was completely confusing. I did love F*ck Love, though, so I decided to give the rest of her books a try. I'm really glad I did! I started The Opportunist on the 3rd of June. The only reason it took me 4 days to read is because I don't read when my husband is off work. I loved the story, I loved the characters, and I loved all the obstacles! Most certainly a one-of-a-kind read!

Of course there are first impressions that speak to Dave Matthews, but I also hear the influence of Bon Iver, certainly on how the vocals are mixed and with that classic heartbeat pulse. Mitch King achieves a real clarity of purpose with his song Believe:

“You will taste it if you can be patient
The more you believe, the more you create it”
— Mitch King

Mitch King lives his life on the road, and has created an impressive career on the back of relentless touring and an irrepressible love for life. We think that comes through loud and clear with this ode to achieving personal spirituality through shared experience.

Namaste.

It's definitely something new... not like anything else (2 more)
I actually quite enjoy the storyline, even though it is like a dirty version of twilight.
The raunch is quite entertaining 😂
The books are only known for their raunchy side which is a shame. (1 more)
The writing isn't too cracking.
I'm just romantic
Now I know the storyline isn't the best, neither is the writing but I still enjoy these books.
Also, since the books came out, people who are THAT way inclined, don't have to feel it's wrong, unusual or taboo. Between two consenting adults, there isn't anything wrong with it. (Although it is too much for my taste!)
