The claustrophobic feel (2 more)

The CGI of the female robot

Mixing technology with a back drop of utter paradise

Better cast and screen writing required (4 more)

Quicker pace required

Feels a little cheap in places

Female characters were there to aid the male

A bit trashy

Seen it all before, or since

It didn't have me flying by the seat of my pants. There were some moments of anxiety felt for the main protagonist but nothing really memorable. It was neither here nor there.

Those of you that love sci-fi reading either know of or should be familiar with Harry Harrison's "Stainless Steel Rat" series.
It's a futuristic Robin Hood style story with the action and intrigue of James Bond with the moral flexibility of Han Solo.
It's amazing that this has never made it to the big screen, seeing as how it has most genres covered: action, mystery, thriller, romance, science, technology, fantasy, sci-fi, politics and family.

It's easy reading, go enjoy the trip.

Thanks for reminding me of that series. I enjoyed it, too. May be time for a reread.

ALilLacey (2 KP) rated The Eternity Code (Artemis Fowl, #3) in Books

Mar 4, 2019

Artemis goes on one last sneaky excursion after getting his father back but a world of things go wrong including his bodyguard getting shot. I couldn't believe the quick thinking Artemis took to save his friend and how he got revenge on those who wronged him. Maybe he'll think better than to make something as powerful as the eternity code in combination with technology that's ahead of the Mud people's time in the future. The 3rd book was definitely action packed.

It was an alright film, trouble is Jennifer Anniston can only play one role. The only interesting item about the film was that one scene takes places at a technology conference and they are talking about the internet and World Wide Web, I streamed the film over the internet to watch it so it was kind of ironic, yes I know the film is over 10 years old but again Jennifer if you see her now does not to have aged at all.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2662 KP) rated True Light (Restoration, #3) in Books

Mar 9, 2018

This is the third book in a series set in a modern world were modern technology has failed. It's winter, which has made daily survival very hard. Yet things get worse when Mark Green is accused of murder. Can the Branning family clear him? Once again, I was pulled into this world. And the mystery was actually well developed here as well.

What movie fits this description?

Ben Cash his wife Leslie and their six children live deep in the wilderness of Washington state. Isolated from society, Ben and Leslie devote their existence to raising their kids -- educating them to think critically, training them to be physically fit and athletic, guiding them in the wild without technology and demonstrating the beauty of co-existing with nature. When Leslie dies suddenly, Ben must take his sheltered offspring into the outside world for the first time.
