Whatever The Cost
Before and After- is a intense drama crime thriller. The performances are excellent. The movie is full of dramatic moments.

The plot: The lives of Carolyn Ryan (Meryl Streep), a small-town doctor, and her artist husband, Ben (Liam Neeson), are shaken up when their son, Jacob (Edward Furlong), becomes the prime suspect in the death of a local teen girl. While Carolyn is intent on learning the truth about her son's involvement, Ben is willing to protect him at any cost, regardless of his guilt or innocence. When Jacob finally tells his parents what happened, events take a surprising series of turns.

I highly recordmend watching this film.

But this is the film that sparked my repertory movie theater habit—back in the days, kids, when there was no such thing as home video, much less the DVD. This was the film that opened up a big wide world beyond what’s-playing-this-week to a young teen, the film that convinced me that this world was worth driving an hour or two or more to sample again and again. For that—and, yes, for its much-parodied yet still powerfully iconic imagery—it’ll always have a place on that inner shelf bridging the heart and mind."

"Again, limiting myself to only one film per director, I went with Mon oncle to stand for Tati’s body of work. It was hard not to pick Playtime, but now that I’ve seen it a few times in 70 mm, I’m not sure I can ever bring myself to watch it on television (and I own the Criterion version). I had the opportunity to see M. Hulot’s Holiday a number of times as a teen and in college, but it never did much for me. Mon oncle was different. It was a revelation, so charming and brilliantly inventive, yet understated. It is a film I can watch again and again (and I have)."

A good story about a teen who recently lost her dad and copes with her grief by joining Raven the trickster of the NW US and Canada. They go on an journey to heal the lay lines of the world in the far near future.
I'd recommend it for kids that are wanting something YA but aren't ready for the mature sex and violence that is typical for most YA whose protagonist is 15 or older. Not that there isn't some hard discussions or danger. Mostly the biggest thing about it is the MC likes to think and sometimes talk in exclamations! It gets a bit tiring accurate or not.
