Seeing and enjoying the peculiar adventure of sharkboy and Lavagirl as a young teen a sequel was always wanted, when first advertised I had another Sonic The Hedgehog movie moment like "OH NO"
As a father with two monsters of my own who love sharkboy & Lavagirl they watched this before me and edged me to watch it with them...
Anyway, graphics continued from SB&LG was an appreciated touch as million dollar graphics don't always make the movie (although they help) a random casting with cute but weak acting and a plot unworthy of it's predecessor, we can be heroes is a nostalgic walk down memory lane that is both family friendly, fun (at least were the adult heroes are involved) and is more like a preschool edition of Disney's Sky High movie.
Best thing about the movie was the return of original Lavagirl actress Taylor dooley.
Appreciate the effort by Netflix, but maybe something more for the original fans next time around.
Plot: children of heroes attempt to rescue captured parents from an "evil" alien invasion ......or something like that.

Emma @ The Movies (1786 KP) rated The Leisure Seeker (2017) in Movies

A runaway couple go on an unforgettable journey in the faithful old RV they call The Leisure Seeker.
Helen Mirren and Donald Sutherland in a movie together... I wanted to love this one. I'm sad to say that I really didn't.
Having not seen a trailer I was completely blindsided by the actual subject matter. From the things I've seen, and the IMDb description above along with "Adventure, Comedy, Drama" under it's entry I was expecting something entirely different. Something funny, and more like a teen road movie, but with older people. But the tale of last chance before ill health wins, is bleak to say the least.
It's a strong and important message about life with, and after, illness. The two are essentially on the run from their ill health, Ella is terminal and John is nearly completely lost to his memories. You get the fleeting highs and lows that the couple do throughout, but they don't make up for the slow and "every day" nature of the movie.
This one was another on the "I'd have left but then I wouldn't have been able to bitch about it" list.

Ally Smith has a happy life in Wisconsin with her dad and her friends. Her only worry is her college applications, but that’s normal. But when Ally officially filed them, they send up a red flag due to her social security number. It seems that Ally Smith isn’t Ally Smith. Her real name is Amanda, and now her happy life is no more. Is her whole life a lie? And what’s going to happen now?
If you’re looking for a captivating and emotional read, look no further than PAST PERFECT LIFE! I won this book via a LibraryThing giveaway, and it was so enjoyable! I found this to be a totally mesmerizing book. If I could have, I would have stayed up all night and read it in one sitting (believe me, I tried. Darn responsibilities.). Ally’s voice was unique, sweet, and just so well-done. The book has a teen style, but this Mama couldn’t stop reading. I loved that it was character-driven yet there was almost a tinge of mystery. It’s emotional, funny, romantic, and completely compelling! Highly recommend! 4 stars.

Matthew Krueger (10051 KP) rated Shivers (1975) in Movies

They Came From Within
Shivers- is a distubing, terrorfying, horrorfying, sci-fi film directed by David Cronenberg and it was Cronenberg's first featured film and what a way to start.
The plot: After a scientist living in a posh apartment complex slaughters a teen girl and kills himself, investigators discover that the murderer had been carrying on experiments involving deadly parasites. Roger St. Luc (Paul Hampton), a doctor living in the building, and his aide, Nurse Forsythe (Lynn Lowry), then realize that the parasites are on the loose, attacking fellow tenants. And those who become hosts turn into erotically obsessed maniacs who pass the bugs on through violent sex.
It was also known as The Parasite Murders and They Came from Within, and, for the French-Canadian distribution, Frissons). The original shooting title was Orgy of the Blood Parasites.
Shivers was Cronenberg's first feature film, and was the most profitable Canadian film made to date in 1975, but was so controversial that the Parliament of Canada debated its social and artistic value and effect upon society, because of objections to its sexual and violent content.
Its disturbing but a excellent film.

As a lover of goosebumps as a teen I was instantly drawn to this as soon as I saw the trailer for it. It has a very similar storyline to the episode say cheese and die but obviously as this is more for adults it's more scary. For those who have seen that episode of goosebumps my job is done, for those who haven't the movie is about a cursed camera, anyone who has their photo taken is killed by a supernatural creature. An antiques dealer named Bird is given an old camera by a friend, she starts taking photos of people with it but it isn't until the second person dies that she realises their deaths are because of the camera. It is then a race against time to find out the origins of the camera and how they can stop this supernatural being from killing her and all of her friends. Can she stop it in time? You'll have to watch to find.
A few jump scares in the movie but nothing too scary and lots of twists and turns, the ending I would have never guessed but it was very well done. Highly recommended.
