Classic Western in Modern Day
351. Hell or High Water. Have you ever wondered what a classic western style story would be like filmed today without much done to update the script? No, me either, until I realized that's exactly what I was watching... Story about two bank robbing brothers, Tanner and Toby Howard, raising enough cash to keep the bad bank man from taking the farm. Ya see, they struck oil on that land, not much, but enough to get by. Toby is the smart one, doing bad things for good reasons. Tanner is the wild card, doing bad things just to do bad things, but deep down, doing it for his brother! But coming up quick behind them is the law, Texas Ranger kinda law!! The old sheriff, Marcus Hamilton, just about to retire, and through pretty much intuition alone ends up in the right places at the right times, and with Marcus his Native American partner, Alberto, who is assaulted by the racist humor of the sheriff all day, but deep down, there's a bromance going on! And as Tanner and Toby continue their bank robbing ways, Tanner gets a little cocky takes on a bank full of people, shots fired, they barely escape with their lives, the townsfolk round up an armed posse to go after them chasing them up the road, but right around the corner is the sheriff, because deep down he knew where those pesky Howard boys were gonna strike next leading up to the ultimate showdown between the Texas Rangers and a couple of law breaking cowboys!! So this takes place in modern day, but it had the classic western set up. So if your looking for a modern day western, go for it, looking for Heat, or Point Break, i'd say probably not. Moonrise by Sarah Crossan
Having discovered Sarah Crossan and the style of writing in verse earlier this year, I was keen to read her latest book. Moonrise is told from the point of view of Joe. His brother Ed is on death row in Texas for murdering a policeman and the story starts as the date of execution is set.
I love the medium of verse as a writing tool – Crossan is able to convey emotions and tell a story in far less words than a conventional novel. The topic of the death penalty is interesting and thought provoking and its perfectly pitched for the young adult audience it is aimed at (but is also of interest to adults too).
If you fancy something a bit different, I would recommend this or any of Crossan’s books wholeheartedly.

John Grisham always has a way of making you want to jump through the book and slap someone.
Keith Schroeder is a Lutheran minister from Topeka, Kansas. One Sunday, a man on parole, attends services at his church. The next morning this man, Travis Boyett, comes to Keith and makes a bold confession.
Miles away in Sloan, Texas, Dante Drum an African-American ex-high school football player, sits on death row waiting for his execution. He was accused of raping and murdering the Caucasian cheerleader from his school. From the beginning, Dante has claimed his innocence. But with a forced confession and an eye witness, the execution will go on.
After Travis makes his startling confession to Keith, he tries all that he can to make the situation right.
Will the truth set Dante free??

Greatest horror movie ever made
I watched this movie when I was 8 years old on VHS back in 1984. It was just before the VRC(video recordings act) came into being. It changed my life it changed the way I watch horror. First time I watched this film I was like this is the coolest film ever. Now at the age of 43 I watched loads of horror movies but nothing comes close to this. OK maybe Halloween as yes that is a classic also. Some ppl prefer Halloween to this but for me texas chainsaw will always be my no 1 film. Its a cinematic masterpiece of film making. Most of the main cast and crew have now past on with only a few left alive unfortunately. So I rate this 10/10.

I'm not really a huge fan of WWII films, my mom used to watch them endlessly when I was a kid.
I didn't expect the movie to start off pre-Pearl Harbor. Did I need to see it again? No. There's a whole 2+ hour movie based around it. While the film is title Midway, it went through the events of the Pacific Theater up until Midway. I guess to give a background for people that weren't forced to watch WWII films as children.
The actors did a good job with their characters. The action was also very good. The film featured a lot of dive-bombing, which was both exhilarating and terrifying to watch.
The thing I liked the best was that they cast a famous Texan (Woody Harrelson) to play Admiral Nimitz, also a badass Texas. Good job, filmmakers.

Poltergeist- is one of my favorite movies of all time and is one of my favorite horror movies of all time.
By the way this movie was PG, yes this movie was PG and it came from the director of "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre". Its also produced by Steven Spielberg.
The sink sence, is so disturbing and gross and not sure why this movie wasnt rating R.
Also the clown sence is also a very scary moment.
Is some great memorable lines like:
"They're Here"
"You can't choose between life and death when we're dealing with what is in between."
"Poltergeist are usually associated with an individual. Hauntings seem to be connected with an area, a house usually."
Poltergeist is scary, terrorfying, frighting, horrorfying, memorable and overall a excellent supernatural horror film.
One that horror fans should watch.
