It was an intriguing start but it hasn't fully grabbed me yet. I want to know what's going to happen now that she's confessed that she likes him and he still sees her as a little sister. And what's with the blonde guy who likes her and the blonde girl that likes him? I'd really like to see where it goes.

These boys and girls fall in love quickly, that's one thing I will say, but... *sigh* I might be cheering her on to get with our main guy but that end bit was very sweet and self-sacrificing of the other guy (I'm not good with names until after the 5th volume or so) so I may have melted a little towards him. He deserves a nice girl and she is SUCH a nice girl. It's also obvious our main guy's girlfriend is insecure about their relationship.

Volume 4 will have to wait until later or tomorrow now.

Nicholas Sparks recommended Casablanca (1942) in Movies (curated)

Casablanca (1942)
Casablanca (1942)
1942 | Drama, Romance, War

"This movie is the best example of the theme “if you love someone, sometimes you have to let them go.” This guy [Rick], he has fallen in love with this woman, and he can’t get over her. She comes back, and she’s married to this freedom fighter, someone that the Nazis are hunting. If he doesn’t give her these two plane tickets, he gets the girl, because the Nazis will find this guy. If he gives her the tickets, her husband is saved and he’ll never see her again. Boy, what a choice. Love often confronts us with some choices that are the toughest things of all. They include compromise and at times, sacrifice. And to me, Casablanca did that phenomenally well."

Yet another quick and easy read from the author. It was about time Sawyer got a girl for keeps but I do believe he'd changed quite a lot from the good guy we hear about at the start of The Vincent Boys. That being said, I did like this Sawyer too.

Daft but fun
One of those films that sounds pretty bad but exactly was quite funny. A guy invites the wrong girl on a weekend work retreat to Hawaii and has to put up with her crazy ways. Very silly and predictable but funny as well making it the right film for an easy watch and a few laughs.

Ernest Borgnine recommended Marty (1955) in Movies (curated)

Marty (1955)
Marty (1955)
1955 | Comedy, Drama, Romance

"I played Marty because I was Marty. I was the kind of guy that was a wall flower. I didn’t know how to dance. To get a girl — my goodness, that was beyond comprehension for me, because I could see myself being turned down and I wasn’t the kind of person that liked to be turned down, you know? Why bother to ask if you’re going to be turned down? So I never asked. That was it. But time went along and I went into the service, and I grew up. When I saw that script, I said, ‘My God, that’s me.’ I was very happy to do it, because it gave me the opportunity to play something that I could easily play, and I knew that I had in my heart exactly what happened."
