BeardyJim (611 KP) rated the PlayStation 4 version of Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice in Video Games
Nov 2, 2021 (Updated Nov 2, 2021)
The game looks amazing, and there aren't any loading screens, as they're cleverly hidden by cutscenes.
The game has an interesting death mechanic, whereby if Senua dies, an infection gets worse in her arm, spreading all over her body. If you die so often that the infection takes over, your save game is deleted. Harsh, right?
Despite this, the gameplay is beautifully done, and the story really gets your attention throughout.
If you haven't picked this up yet, I urge you to do so, before the sequel comes out.
David McK (3791 KP) rated Wonder Woman 1984 (2020) in Movies
Jan 3, 2021 (Updated Jul 9, 2024)
Wonder Woman 1984, in contract, is currently ranked as the worst on IMDB.
While it's definitely not a patch on the original, I'm not sure it's all that bad: sure, it is hard to get past the seeming lack of concern Diana Prince aka Wonder Woman has for (mild spoiler alert!) the body/soul/whatever of the man the returning Steve Trevor has (think Quantum Leap style) while it definitely follows into the old 'Superhero loses/gives up their powers' trope a la Superman 2 or Spider-Man 2, and I still don't understand how a World War One pilot can climb into the cockpit of a jet and fly it with nary a problem ...
Having said that, set your expectations accordingly (Superman 3 level, maybe), and it's an enjoyable enough
Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2554 KP) rated The Big Boat to Bye-Bye in Books
Feb 20, 2026 (Updated Feb 20, 2026)
This is a different series since Pete is not who he thinks he is. All that is set up in the first book, and we don’t get the background here. It does play into the philosophizing we get in the book, but that should have been cut back. The main plot is good with some great twists. The ending is a bit convoluted, but it does work. The book has a lot of humor, which made me laugh at times and made me cringe at others. Overall, I’m glad I finally pulled this off my shelves and read it.
