It's now, what, nearly 40 years (at the time of reviewing) since the original, Dolph Lundgren-starring, Masters of the Universe movie.

Yes, he makes a cameo in this.

Anyway, as they say: what goes around comes around, and we're now back in an era where 80s TV shows (and cartoons) are making a bit of a comeback, with this the most recent example of such.

And, unlike that previous film, large parts of this *do* actually take place on Eternia rather than on Earth. Here, also, Prince Adam is new to his role - he's not the seasoned He-Man of the cartoons or that earlier film, with the first act of this set on Earth after he is sent there as a child (and promptly losing the Sword of Power, his way home) in order to escape from the evil Skeletor.

Who, in my opinion, seems to be in a different (more fun) movie than the rest of the cast.

So what we have, essentially, is an origin story, with large parts of the cast here - and in a change from what I remember of the cartoons - aware of both Adam's (not-so) secret identity, particularly Teela and Man-at-Arms both.

There's also a somewhat amusing reason for how the characters got their names: Ram-man, Mekaneck, etc ...

I loved the old cartoons, and bought a box set of the dvds for my sons. I might just wait for this to come out on TV or streaming, though!

Katharina and Martin Luther: The Radical Marriage of a Runaway Nun and a Renegade Monk by Michelle DeRusha gave a vivid picture of 2 individuals whose path led to each other and to changing the course of history. It shares personal details of their lives, childhoods separated from family and risking capture, the escape to new lives. They married as virtual strangers but over time they grew to love and admire each other.
The book was extremely well written and researched. When reading you get a glimpse of what life was like at the time, and how Katharina and Martin called on their faith and each other to share their progressive thoughts.
This is a very intimate view of someone who hundreds of years later is a household name. It presents Martin Luther as very human, with doubts and fears, but with courage and the support of a loving relationship, gave Christians another way to live in faith.
