Steven Sklansky (231 KP) rated Logan (2017) in Movies

The addition of Professor X was kind of crazy. I didn't know how it would play out but him being bat shit crazy was a totally different side of him that worked. He really helped show the human side of being a mutant and show Logan there can be peaceful side of life. Them helping the farmer was one of the best scenes in the movie because it helped Logan bring out the human in him and not just his animal instincts.
The little girl that played X-23 was great. I did not know a girl could play anger so well. And that her parents would let her decapitate someone. I really hope they do a full X-23 movie with her grown up, I think it will help keep the series alive.
The death of Logan and Charles hit me so hard. I grew up watching these characters grow and get old and it was very sad to see it end. Logan's burial was done so fast but the kids had to escape, I do wish there was a little more to it and more of a score. But overall fantastic ending to a great Wolverine.
If you didn't see this movie in the theater that's to bad. If you haven't seen at all go see this movie now.

Harper watches her family being murdered and manages to escape, although at a cost. She finds her way into the forest and is found by Wolfie. She is then found by Sam and Dolly, together with Rogan, who put her in the system to see if she can find a forever home away from them. This doesn't work, so she ends up with them, much to little Ian's happiness.
The author tried something very difficult in this book, and that is to have the character change from being a child to an adult IN the story. Not viewing her childhood as an adult, but actually being a child. This is hard because it's a RH book, so you've got to have the innocence of the child, and then steamy, multi-partner scenes later on.
I did enjoy this book, although there were parts that didn't make sense to me. I'm hoping they will in the later books. For example, Ian has the ability to be an Alpha, but can't be bothered even though he and Carter butt heads all the time. He is the one who mated Harper first, and has been her mate for years. So why does he back down so damned quickly to Carter at one point. And who was the strange, disembodied voice?
I also would have liked more character development about Rogan, Sam, and Dolly. All three of these characters are pivotal to the story, but all three sort of fade out until the ending.
On the whole, this was a thoroughly enjoyable book, and I would carry on with the series. Like I said though, for this book, it's NOT a RH.

Charlie Cobra Reviews (1840 KP) rated The Promised Neverland in TV

For Emma, an 11-year old orphan living in Grace Field House, life has never been better. Her and 37 other orphans enjoy gourmet food, plush beds, clean clothes, games, and the love of their "Mother", Isabella, the caretaker. The orphans are allowed complete freedom, except to venture beyond the grounds or the gate, which connects the house to the outside world. One night Emma and Norman (another orphan) find the dead body of an orphan who was sent away to be adopted at the gate. This is where they realize the truth of their existence in the orphanage and become determined to break out of Grace Field House and escape along with their other siblings.
This show was a welcomed change for me from the normal anime I watch and very different. I enjoy anime like this that make you think and have a bit of mystery to them. For those looking for something that doesn't involve fighting, powering up, blasts or transformations then this is something that you might want to check out. This anime intrigued me right away from the first episode by it's premise and what it alluded to. I really liked the characters and their personalities and they way they used their intelligence especially since they are all portrayed as children. I kept trying to figure out where the plot was going with it and happily surprised that I couldn't always guess where it was going. This is definitely one of the stand outs from the spring anime season. I give it a 8/10 and it gets my "Must See Seal Of Approval".

Debbiereadsbook (1788 KP) rated Engine in the Sky (Dyson Bridge #3) in Books

This is book 3 in the Dyson Bridge series, and I do recommend you read the other two books: Abandon Station, book 1 and Among Us, book 2, before you read this one. It will give you the full story of how Merida and her people came to be on this New Earth. Not all is full recapped here and you really do need to know what happened before.
Finally, the politicians and the military of this world are beginning to see that the Bridgeway's deteriorating orbit might be disastrous for the New Earth. They just can't decide on how to fix it. Merida knows, along with her people but they won't let the technology on the Bridgeway fall into wrong hands and are fighting amongst themselves, while Merida and her people are dying.
So, people, again cliffhanger of sorts but at least Merida and her people are one step closer to going home. They are safer now, on the station than they were on Earth.
I found this one HEAVY on the technical details required to send the escape pods and on what happened on the station when they got there. Far too technical for me to fully understand, although I got some of it. The technology of Merida and the Bridgeway is far superior to ours, and to the New Earth and I fall in the New Earth category in my understanding!
Again, though, only Merida has a voice.
That said, I did enjoy the build up to getting back on the station and now look forward to Merida and those of her crew that are left, along with some tag alongs, getting home, if they can!
I am still invested in these people and I only want them to all be happy, and home. Also, I didn't have to wait 18 months for this book, like I did book 2, so maybe Harrison can get them home quicker, huh??
4 very good stars
