"I get a lot of help from Pema Chodron. She is the student of Chögyam Trungpa, who was Allen Ginsberg’s guru, and it was Allen who taught me to meditate, along with many other lessons from Buddhism."

"Pema Chödrön is my self appointed guru. When I am feeling lost or ungrounded, I turn to her infinite wisdom. She makes Buddhism extremely accessible to the Western mentality. And she also has a wonderful sense of humor."

"This screenplay, a dialogue between an all too human aspirant and an imperfect guru, is unabashed, hysterical, grave, and unencumbered by irony or cool. Two men bound by their contemporary urban world and reaching for the transcendent. Over dinner on the Upper West Side. The roadmap for a singular film."

When adoption guru Sam Brennan is found bludgeoned to death in his house, it starts San Diego Sheriff Department detective Roxanne Prescott on a trail of long hidden secrets. The plot was uneven and really seemed to slow down in second half.

Wild Wild Country - Season 1
Wild Wild Country - Season 1
2018 | Crime, Documentary
This is a pretty interesting documentary about a religious (?) sect that followed Indian Guru, Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh, 'invading' a small town in the middle of nowhere in Oregon. It showed both parties, interviewing the original residents, and the members of the sect. This made the documentary watchable, at least for me.
The most entertaining and slightly deranged person interview was Sheela, who served as Bhagwan's personal secretary. This lady was convicted of poisoning a town, and arming the sect like a military.
Worth a watch, and it's relatively short.

"Fucking loved that record, man. I met Premier and Guru early, before the first album; they were still on Wild Pitch. I was down at their video for Word I Manifest, before Cypress came out, in like ‘89. That was a good time in New York man; I loved New York in the late eighties. It was incredible. The creativity and the culture of the city was so raw. That’s where a lot of subcultures came out of, that rawness. You didn’t see a lot of shit come out of Beverly Hills… there’s a reason for that."

Mr. Monk Helps Himself (Mr. Monk #16)

Natalie's new self-help guru commits suicide in the middle of a public event, but she's convinced it is murder. Meanwhile, Monk is hired to find the killer of a clown, one of his top 100 phobias. This is going to be the biggest test of their new partnership.

This is the first tie in novel not written by Lee Goldberg, but since Hy was a writer on the show, he already knows the characters. He's picked up from where Lee left off, and fans of the show and the books will love it. Laughs, good mysteries, and great characters.
