"One of the first ones I remember my jaw being on the floor. You know, that idea of who’s running the asylum [laughing]? And who’s really crazy and who isn’t? It was a spectacular film to me. Jack Nicholson — it was my first [time] being introduced to him in such an unbelievable way, and he didn’t seem like he was acting to me. He seemed like a crazy man. And he wasn’t acting, because I’ve subsequently met him and he is a crazy man! All the characters were — you know, I don’t need to say it. One of my favorite films. And I’ve always wanted to play Nurse Ratched."

I'd always considered Tartikoff a kind of hero, for indelibly knowing how television worked and making his mark there. The man was responsible for an incredible run of my favorite shows at NBC in the 80s, and this book, full of anecdotal stories is a lot of fun to read, but doesn't quite go far enough into the day to day making of those shows or running of the network. But it is entertaining and like Tartikoff's NBC programing something you shouldn't miss.

Bruce Willis plays a powerful Cincinnati banker, Jeffrey Hubert.

Then there are a group of Kevlar masked dangerous and impulsive baddies running all over town robbing the branches of Hubert’s banks.

The FBI becomes involved and they are left with confusing clues, including a finger print from a dead man on various pieces of evidence.

All through the story line you think you know who’s behind the Kevlar masks only to be thrown off as more evidence is found.

Tragic family drama disguised in apocalyptic genre
I spent at least three quarters of this book getting irritated by the protagonist's whiny outlook, however, I was sympathetic by the end when he faces his own demons and realisation.

It's like a drama wrapped in an end of the world scenario, so I was relieved that it avoided any of the ridiculous zombie / outbreak type of plot. It was mostly realistic, analysing how people react differently to extreme situations, apart from the fact a man with zero running skills could manage to run 450 miles in total let alone 20 miles within the first day.

And there were some great characters including old man Australian Harvey and female soldier Grimes, who blasted any stereotypes out of the water.
