This is probably my favorite Mos Def album. It's held up over the years, and I still have all the words to Ghetto Rock memorized.

My personal favourite of all the albums. The upbeat afro-inspired tunes truly brighten any day. A true leader in the world of indie-pop/rock!

Surfing the rock vibe
As first albums go, this is good. It really sets up a good feel for The Vaccines style and substance. Mixing surfer style with current indie rock helps create a new and fresh style of music, that I personally think is easily consumable by most listeners!

Rolling Stone's 337th greatest album of all time
Great progressive rock album, with some epic, rambling song-stories telling tales of childhood rejection and subsequent vindication. The inclusion of flute was an interesting feature for a typical rock album.

Great funk/rock/disco album. Family Affair is on the album but pales in comparison to the rest.

"This song started the whole idea that punk rock can be married to soul and R&B music. This sort of started the whole idea of the record for me."
