This film was filled with tension and it was extraordinary how it didn’t have to rely on the sounds that usual Horror and Thrillers depend on because it still had me on the edge of my seat.
Also, it was a terrifying scenario to be seen portrayed and thinking if this could actually happen, and having to be silent constantly in order to stay alive.
It was so upsetting when their daughter had been killed towards the start of the film and when their newborn baby was crying, and that horrifying creature was in the same room - it made me agitated, anxious and apprehensive for what was about to happen.
One of the best horror movies I’ve ever seen, definitely recommend.

I actually read Simone St. James’ incredibly spooky ghost story—set in a creepy motel—in a rather drab hotel room and boy did it scare me! The tag line: The secrets lurking in a rundown motel ensnare a young woman, just as they did her aunt thirty-five years before...

This was such a great book. It features a hard to put down mystery with excellent characters and some downright terrifying scenes! The book is packed with twists and turns, and it's absolutely captivating.

The parallelism between Viv’s story—set in the 1980s—and her niece, Carly’s, in present-day, is excellent. I was so attached to these tough women and their stories. The 1980s piece really grabbed me; St. James really captures the era so well.

"Towards the end of the list I was getting desperate, but Paris 1919 came to me straight away - it's one of my all time favourite albums. It's like the anti-Transformer; I see it as the antithesis of that record, and I definitely have more love for Paris 1919. I think it's the best album John Cale's ever made. It's odd, because it's a poppy record, but even his poppy records have sinister overtones. And I love 'Child's Christmas In Wales'. It's a very Christmassy album. Do I play it a lot at this time of year? I'm forbidden from playing records at home. I put Berlin on at home once, and it just killed the room. I tried to make it better by playing some Motown, but the atmosphere had gone."
