Words are going to fail me in describing how much I love this book! I've been a major fan of the works of David Gemmell, and ever since his tragicly early death in 2006 the world has been desperate for a worthy successor. I believe we have found such a man in John Gwynne. In this book he weaves incrediblly nuanced characters with awe inspiring world building and intricate action scenes and plotting. Sure, it is your big standard medieval fantasy world. But with all the other authors doing fantasy differently today, there is enough room for the more traditional stance. As you can probably tell, I love this book. I just hope it's follow ups don't let me down!

The Big Lebowski (1998)
The Big Lebowski (1998)

"If I had to pick just one movie, I’d say, “Give me The Big Lebowski,” because I can watch that thing 20 times in a row. I’m such a fan, and really, no one’s busted me on it yet, but all I really want to do is be John Goodman when I grow up. He’s so incredibly intelligent and full of pathos and hilarity, while at the same time, being this crazy linebacker of a man. His work in that and Raising Arizona, which I’ll put in a subset under The Big Lebowski, when he eats that fucking bowl of cereal while smoking a cigarette in Raising Arizona, I’m like, “Alright, there is room for me in the pantheon of actors.”

Famously cryptic Russian existential SF classic, or possibly just three men wandering about on some waste ground for two and a half hours. A 'stalker' leads a writer and a scientist into a heavily guarded zone which contains a room that supposedly gives existence to the fondest desires of anyone entering it. They discuss philosophy. A lot.

Not quite as challengingly impenetrable as some of Tarkovsky's work, but still challengingly dense and subtle. Almost all the actual SF content is left to the imagination of the viewer; the film is primarily about discussions of virtue, faith, psychology, and many other abstract things. Mesmerising to watch, but quite hard work; there's a good chance it's every bit as good as everyone else says, but I'm just too thick to figure that out.

Selection of categories, binge worthy tv shows, excellent movie selection, easy app to get through. (0 more)
Too many B rated horror flicks. (0 more)
Nifty Netflix.
My Netflix experience has been so good, we shut our cable off and use Netflix and Amazon as our source of entertainment. I love the fact that I can binge watch different types of genres when it comes to tv shows. The movie selection is very wide span as well and my only complaint is there is entirely too many b- rated horror flicks. Otherwise I have nothing but good to say about Netflix. The app is on my phone as well for any on the go entertainment I need while running on the treadmill or sitting in a doctors waiting room. Thumbs up to Netflix.
