a much more enjoyable, but darker read than book one, and I loved it!
Indepedent reviewer for Archaeolibrarian, I was gifted my copy of this book.
This is book 2 in the MacAteer Brothers series, and it would help to have read book one, Run With It. Not totally necessary, but I would personally recommend you do. You'll get a better feel of Melanie, and Owen and his brothers, I think.
Melanie is Bev's best friend, and looks after herself and stuff anyone else. Owen is one of Connor's younger brothers. Owen has had a bit of a crush on Mel for a long time, and when Mel is left in a difficult place, he steps up. Then the reasons WHY Mel is the way she is with men comes out, and Owen is all Alpha-Male-Protect-Whats-Mine.
I found this a much darker read, given Mel's history, but also I bloody LOVED it!
Mel has a voice in the first person, and Owen in the third. I knew this going in, and expected it, and I enjoyed reading Owen's voice so much more than Connor's. Owen is a gentle giant with a stutter and a speech impediment, that leaves him somewhat tongue tied amoung people he doesn't know, or isn't comfortable with. VERY quickly, Owen is speaking with mel in full sentences, with no sign of his problem. That should have clued him up, right quick, that somethign special was happening between them.
It takes time for Mel and Owen to fully commit, and to get together, and I LOVED being made to wait for it. I think I would have loved it even they had NOT got to the smexy times, I really do. Mel's little problem not withstanding. But once they do? OOOOEEEEE! They are committed and all in. I loved that.
Owen doesn't say much, verbally, but when we get him in his chapters, he is deep. He was hurt before, and you understand why he holds himself back some, but he loves Mel, from very early on, and it pained me when she kept friend-zoning him!
We get a bit more of Garrett, Owen's twin, and his book is next. We also meet the lady who will steal his heart. THAT book is next on my list, and given what we learn here, and reading the blurb, I think it may well be a bit darker than this one!
Billed as s spin off to the Dragon Runners series, it's not necessary to read those. I didn't like them, to be honest, but I'm loving these and I look forward to reading about the other set of twins further down the series!

A creepy but long-winded entry in the YOU series
Joe Goldberg has resolved to be a good guy. No more obsessions, no more killing to get what he wants. He's moving to the Pacific Northwest, he's going to work in a library (he has some experience with books, after all), and he's reformed. It's at the library where he meets her. Mary Kay DiMarco. A librarian. Beautiful, older. She's also a mother. She's busy and distracted. But Joe knows true love will prevail, because he's doing things the right way. With his undying love and friendship, Mary Kay will have no choice but to fall for him.
"And of course you couldn't help it. After all, you love me."
I was incredibly excited to hear there would be a third "Joe" book, because I can still remember reading the first, YOU. I was alone on a mini-vacation and spent the entire thing creeped out, feeling watched, thanks to how good Kepnes is at writing Joe and his obsessiveness. The good thing about YOU LOVE ME is that she still captures Joe's voice perfectly. He's just... Joe. Obsessed. Weird. Witty. Over the top.

In YOU LOVE ME, Joe is fleeing Love--not the concept, but the actual person, from book two. After his encounters with her, he's ready to be on the straight and narrow. He realizes he has no more chances, no more "get out of jail free" cards. Starting over in the Pacific Northwest is it.
So, while Joe is still his usual creepy self, he's slightly diminished. We don't get full-on stalk/kill Joe, and it's a little disappointing. I'm not going to lie: I want Joe to triumph over others. I like when Joe wins. And, sadly, I found myself not wanting to go back and pick this book up after I started it. I was so bummed! It was long, meandering, and all the twists seemed either odd and too convenient or just really strange. It dragged on, lacking the ominous tension of YOU.
I still rooted for Joe, of course. That's the talent Kepnes brings, making us cheer on the bad guy. But there was less "Joe versus evil" than "Joe versus annoying" in this read. Of course we wanted Joe to win--his foes were downright irritating.
Overall, this book still captures Joe's voice really well, but the actual story seems lacking. It's long and couldn't keep my full interest. Now, if there's a book four, will I still read it? Sure. 2.5 stars, rounded to 3 here, because there's always something about Joe.

This novel is told by a third person, the “Unknown Narrator”, who is one of the characters, but I couldn’t figure out who it was. 😀 The main characters are Xar (a wizard) and Wish (a warrior), they belong to two separate tribes, who are at war with each other, and both of these characters are a very naughty thirteen-year-olds. 🙂 I really liked Wish in this book, I think she is quite smart, and I really liked her strangeness. She is not like everybody else, and I think it really suited her. I really didn’t like Xar, I think he is rude, ignorant, absolutely horrible, self-centred brat, and he is a very bad example for kids. :/ I understand that author chose him for a reason and to prove some points to the young generation, but still, I couldn’t stand him. I really liked all the magical creatures, which the author created for this book. They were super fun and gave this “Harry Potter” vibe, which I really liked.
The narrative of this book is filled with plenty of magic and very fun adventures, which I really enjoyed. I liked the way the author was trying to surprise the reader with unexpected twists and turns and an interesting outcome from particular actions.
I kind of liked the writing style of this book, it feels very little edited and quite raw. (Like, when you tell an actual story, and u need to clarify some of the things you say) However, the same thing dragged out the story a little, making the chapters feel quite long sometimes. My most favourite thing about this book was the illustrations. It helped me to understand how all the characters and magical creatures looked like, and in general, they were absolutely stunning. I also liked that the author included quite a few of them in every chapter, it was fun to read and it gave a different texture to the whole story.
The language used in this book was easy to understand and pretty fun, and as I mentioned before, the chapters were quite long, but the illustrations kept the reading experience entertaining and not boring. The ending of this story was quite unexpected and the author creatively hinted about another book to follow. So, to conclude, it is a fun and adventurous story, filled with magic and magnificent creatures. Now, for the recommendation, I think adults should read it first and then decide if they want their kids to dig in. Xar’s attitude might have a negative impact on some of the kids, but I will leave that for the parents to decide. Enjoy! 🙂

A charming and delightful look at family and friendship
Bridget and Will are the best of friends--and nothing more--despite what everyone thinks. For over thirty years, they've been the two long-standing members of the Forsyth Trio. The third founding member, Gavin, went on to great success and stardom, leaving Bridget and Will to fill the position with a rotating crew of musicians. Before starting up the trio again, Bridget plans on spending the summer at her country house in Connecticut near her father, the famous musician Edward Stratton. But things go awry quickly. Her boyfriend breaks it off with her; her twenty-something twins surprise her by returning to the house for the summer, bringing their chaos with them; and the older Edward announces he's getting married. Will and Bridget decide to relaunch the Forsyth Trio at the wedding, but it all hinges on getting Gavin to return--someone they've both been avoiding for quite some time.
This is a charming and funny story. If it sounds all over the place, it's only because it's a reflection on Bridget's life, which is a total mess at the beginning of our tale. Each character in Poeppel's heartfelt tome is wonderful: real and true, standing out on the page as their own person. I fell easily for poor Bridget, hapless Will, the twins, and our host of side characters, ranging from Bridget's very New York-ish sister to Gwen to uppity Edward and his assistant to the local Connecticut townfolk who swarm to try to keep Bridget--and her cottage--from falling apart.
There's a lot of focus on music here--with Bridget, Will, and Edward all musicians, and it makes for a different and lovely book. While plenty of serious things happen, overall this is a sweet and funny story. I found myself smiling and laughing often while reading. There are some downright laugh out loud scenes. Bridget's inability to master technology, coupled with the helplessness of her twins, allow for some wonderful moments. But what really shines through is how much everyone here loves each other--Bridget and her kids, the whole Stratton family, and Will, who is truly part of the clan. How nice to read a book where, even if everyone might fight a day, their compassion and caring for each other shines through.
And, of course, I have a soft spot for any book featuring twins, so I enjoyed a prominent storyline featuring them.
Overall, this is delightful book that offered a wonderful distraction to the woes of the world. It's a funny and kind look at family and friendship, and it simply made me happy. 4+ stars.

SG Lewis is a London-based songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist. Not too long ago, he released his “Dawn” EP ahead of his two high profile festival appearances at North Coast Music Festival and Jay-Z’s Made In America, and a headlining tour in September.
His 6-track project, released via Casablanca and Republic Records, is the third and final chapter of his three-part concept album, entitled, Dusk, Dark, Dawn.

‘Easy Loving You’ tells a bittersweet tale of a heavy-hearted young man who struggles to cope with the pain after suffering an emotional breakup with his girlfriend.
Looking back in hindsight, he realizes that she wasn’t an easy person to love, and their problematic relation was doomed from the start because they were oceans apart.
Later, he admits that both of them are broken and in need of emotional repair. Also, it hurts every time he remembers that they are no longer together.
‘Easy Loving You’ contains a gloomy storyline, heartfelt vocals, and melodic instrumentation flavored with sentimental and electro-R&B elements.
“Blue, in your eyes as I fall for the night. But you’ll fade away when morning light is rising. Leave a taste lingering on my skin. Have I been here before? You touch me and I fall. I close my eyes on the horizon, me and you. I can see the lights inside my mind are glowing blue.” – lyrics
Not too long ago, SG Lewis released the psychedelic, Rainbow Road tinged music video for his EP opener, entitled, “Blue”.
The likable tune was inspired by the countless amount of hours that Lewis spent in airports while touring over the last year.

creeping up from book 1!
Independent reviewer for BookSirens, I was gifted my copy of this book.
This is book 2 in The Red Agency series, and while not strictly necessary, I do recommend you read book 1, Matching With Monsters before this one. Somethings happen in that book that are referenced in this one, and they are not fully recapped. I think you can get the gist of it, so it is just a personal recommendation, is all.
Cami is Ari's best friend, one of them. After dealing with her boss for so long, and at Ari's insistence, she signs up for The Red Agency to be matched with a monster (or 4!) She finds herself face to face with a one night stand, Raif; her boss's thorn in his side, Cyrus; the werewolf who saved her in book 1, Teagan and then, her boss, Damon, who are all in a clan, if estranged somewhat. And then they find out she has a stalker, so all bets are off, they they double down to keep her safe.
Well played with the stalker! I have 3 pinned for that, and then it's someone totally else and I loved being played with that!
It is, again, very much Cami and HER monsters but I epected that so it didn't come so much as a surprise. And again, single person point of view. However, this time, there wasn't just ONE I wanted to hear from, I wanted them all! I'm just flipping greedy, I know but it's how I felt!
There was some history as to how these guys came to be a clan, and that is different from book 1, so I enjoyed that.
It's steamy, and I think steamier than book 1, but not entirely sure why my book brain thinks that! I did like that Cami was intimate with all 4 guys seperately, BEFORE they were all together, and when they were mating, Cyrus was just himself, none of his shades took part.
Loved that all four guys were different monsters, and not from birth. Cyrus was cursed, and is like Anubis. Teagan is a werewolf, Raif and incubus and Damon is a devil. They all have their quirks and they use them to please Cami as best they can.
Lyssa is the third friend. Some things happen here that lead into her book, which is next. I'm looking forward to getting my hands on that book, cos I think it might be the one that tips over to 5 stars. I gave book 1 4 stars, and we creeped up a bit here to . . .

TROUBLED SKIES is the third and final book in the Blue Skies trilogy, but the first one I have read. Did I need to read the first two? No, but now I definitely want to.
You know how sometimes, you just want a nice, easy book to whisk you away to a different world from the one you currently live in? Well, that was me, and this book came up on my TBR list at just the right time.
It begins pretty angsty - Ricky is in an Air Traffic accident and ends up in hospital. Not only that, but he's also peeved about his friends finding love (it's reasonable, sort of, trust me!), AND gets kicked out of his home by a landlord that isn't worth the time on the page. So, he does what any reasonable person would do... he splurges his life savings on a ticket to Ibiza and uses his middle name, Adrian, instead of Ricky. Of course, that would work better if he didn't have to board a plane to get to Ibiza. No, scrap that - two planes! Luckily for him, Ren is on hand to help his nerves.
This book had me from the very beginning. No, I don't 100% know why Ricky was so peeved, but the explanations given in the book make perfect sense. The fact that he wanted to get away also makes sense. And Ren... ah, what can I say? I loved him from the very beginning. Okay, maybe not the VERY beginning, but as soon as he meets Adrian, definitely. I also loved how they both had their worries about how this would work in the future, but that didn't stop them from enjoying the time they had.
Ren is the more steadfast character out of the two, which was surprising considering his playboy prince persona. I loved how he did everything he could to ease Adrian's life (when Adrian would let him!) and show him different things. Honestly? If Adrian had asked for the sun, Ren would have been on the phone to someone to figure out how to make it happen. And while Ren was my favourite, I also understood how Adrian felt. Bless him, it was all a bit much after everything he'd been through.
A light-hearted, somewhat low-level angsty, and oh-so romantic story. Just what I need and absolutely 100% adored - of course I recommend it!
ps - Did Sheila survive? My mind won't let it go!!!

You know how sometimes, you just want a nice, easy book to whisk you away to a different world from the one you currently live in? Well, that was me, and this book came up on my TBR list at just the right time.
It begins pretty angsty - Ricky is in an Air Traffic accident and ends up in hospital. Not only that, but he's also peeved about his friends finding love (it's reasonable, sort of, trust me!), AND gets kicked out of his home by a landlord that isn't worth the time on the page. So, he does what any reasonable person would do... he splurges his life savings on a ticket to Ibiza and uses his middle name, Adrian, instead of Ricky. Of course, that would work better if he didn't have to board a plane to get to Ibiza. No, scrap that - two planes! Luckily for him, Ren is on hand to help his nerves.
This book had me from the very beginning. No, I don't 100% know why Ricky was so peeved, but the explanations given in the book make perfect sense. The fact that he wanted to get away also makes sense. And Ren... ah, what can I say? I loved him from the very beginning. Okay, maybe not the VERY beginning, but as soon as he meets Adrian, definitely. I also loved how they both had their worries about how this would work in the future, but that didn't stop them from enjoying the time they had.
Ren is the more steadfast character out of the two, which was surprising considering his playboy prince persona. I loved how he did everything he could to ease Adrian's life (when Adrian would let him!) and show him different things. Honestly? If Adrian had asked for the sun, Ren would have been on the phone to someone to figure out how to make it happen. And while Ren was my favourite, I also understood how Adrian felt. Bless him, it was all a bit much after everything he'd been through.
A light-hearted, somewhat low-level angsty, and oh-so romantic story. Just what I need and absolutely 100% adored - of course I recommend it!
ps - Did Sheila survive? My mind won't let it go!!!

This book will shake and break your heart. This book will make you realise that life is anything but gentle. But this book will also bring you the greatest adventure you have yet to see.
I have bought my whole book collection back in 2014. I have been procrastinating with this series for four years. And today, while writing this review, I thank the old gods and the new, for convincing me to read the first book.
I am probably one of the last people that have reviewed this book, and I assume you all already know a lot about the Game of Thrones series.
It is a book about one Iron Throne, and all the wars, fights, betrayals are about who will be sitting on that throne, and who will be in charge of all kingdoms.
Now, starting off, I am still not sure why people would send armies and armies of soldiers in order to win the throne, when it seems that no matter who becomes a king, that person gets instantly killed. And no kingdom respects each other, and kings and lords keep fighting off and wasting resources for a lost purpose, so there’s that as well.
We have many houses, Stark, Lannister, Baratheon, Tully, Arryn, Targaryen, Tyrell, Greyjoy, Martell, etc - and they all feature with something unique to their house. Most importantly, they all either want the throne, want revenge or want them both.
But just to clarify - I loved the book!
George R.R. Martin is a genius! He has created this amazing world, and characters that are so alive that make you either hate them or love them, but with all your heart. He has created relationships so tangled and stories so well written, that he puts other authors to shame.
The book is written from a third person perspective, and each chapter features a character. And with each chapter, George moves the time gradually, so we are not stuck in a loop of time pause. I enjoyed this method quite a lot! It kept the story line going very smoothly.
‘’Most men would rather deny a hard truth than face it.’’
There were so many characters I admired. But my connection with these characters in this book is unlike any other connection I have made. I usually either love or hate a character. But here, I judged actions, and relationships, and things people said and did!
I liked Eddard Stark’s bravery, and his manliness, but I didn’t like the fact that he was too honest for his own good.
‘’Can a man still be brave if he’s afraid?
‘’That’s the only time a man an be brave’’.
I loved Arya’s fierceness, but I didn’t like her stubbornness.
‘’For the second time today Arya reflected that life was not fair.’’
I liked Sansa’s politeness, and girlishness. She had all the perfect manners, but she also would betray family for love.
I loved Jon Snow’s story, and how he overcame his past, and learned to live with it.
‘’Let me give you some counsel, bastard.‘’ Lannister said. ‘’Never forget what you are, for surely the world will not. Make it your strength. Then it can never be your weakness. Armor yourself in it, and it will never be used to hurt you.’’
I loved many other characters for things they did, and hated many others, but I cherished the difference in each and every character, and that was the beauty in it - that even though an author can create so many characters, he can make them so different from each other.
In this book, you will encounter everything: mostly mean people, ready to kill everyone and anyone standing in the way of their plans. You will read about a story of a family that falls apart, a kingdom that vanishes, a fight between kings, how a little girl will learn life in one day, how a mother will watch her children disappear, one by one.
