Lyndsey Gollogly (2893 KP) rated Rhapsodic (The Bargainer #1) in Books
Apr 27, 2020
Everyone knows that if you need a favor, you go to the Bargainer to make it happen. He’s a man who can get you anything you want … at a price. And everyone knows that sooner or later he always collects.
But for one of his clients, he’s never asked for repayment. Not until now. When Callie finds the fae king of the night in her room, a grin on his lips and a twinkle in his eye, she knows things are about to change. At first it’s just a chaste kiss—a single bead’s worth—and a promise for more.
For the Bargainer, it’s more than just a matter of rekindling an old romance. Something is happening in the Otherworld. Fae warriors are going missing one by one. Only the women are returned, each in a glass casket, a child clutched to their breast. And then there are the whispers among the slaves, whispers of an evil that’s been awoken.
If the Bargainer has any hope to save his people, he’ll need the help of the siren he spurned long ago. Only, his foe has a taste for exotic creatures, and Callie just happens to be one.
I loved it! I’ve only read one other book by this author and I that too! It’s so romantic! I absolutely love the story line! Not much more to say as it’s one of those that I recommend just going in and reading! The last book that I loved like this was the Merry Gentry series by Laurell K Hamilton

Debbiereadsbook (1554 KP) rated Stalk of the Town (The Rhubarb Effect #6) in Books
Jan 18, 2025
Book 6 of 7 in this series, and you really do NEED to read the others. There is an overlapping timeline and story arc.
Goliath is the gentle giant of the town. He likes to check on people from afar, hence the nickname, Stalk Of The Town. He's an Alpha stalk, and catching a sight of the llama in the pack gives him hope that he can have a mate. But will the drama llama accept him as he is? Drew is omega, but likes to be in control. Discovering just why he likes being at the bottom of the garden and doing all kinds of naughty things doesn't mean he will have to stop being himself, does it??
What I'm loving about these books is how much FUN they are! Drew really is a drama llama and his reaction to missing Tim's babies being born, followed by the birth of Burke's babies is a prime example and he made me laugh! He was a bit horrid to Goliath for making him miss Tim's delivery but he does make it up to him.
I loved that Drew could really see Goliath, and picked up very quickly that he preferred their mental connection to communicate.
Leo is the last man standing, and he will be the last book with the sheriff as his mate. He is also the reason why the old alpha is in town, and we might actually get the full story in the last book! Also, there is some reluctance on Leo's part to take his mate, given as they are both alphas. That'll be fun to read!
I'm loving that I've been kept on my toes for 6 books but I'm really desperate for the grand finale!
sticking at the 4 fun and smexy stars, maybe book 7 will tip over to 5!

Carma (21 KP) rated Just For Fun (Just Everyday Heroes: Day Shift, #4) in Books

Douglas Dooley Miller was a total ladies man, he didnt do commitment and he liked regular girls. Morgan James was no regular girl. He knew he was in trouble the moment he paid her bail and left her in the jail cell.
Morgan James couldnt believe she was searching out Doug Miller again after he left her to rot in the jail cell. Ok so it was only for 30 more minutes after he left and they didnt charge her or make her pay bail money but still. She needed his help, and it needed to be him and only him to help her out with a problem.
Dooley isnt one that his friends go to first for help or advice so when Morgan tracks him down and asks for a favor he has no idea what to do. I mean who doesnt want to help a gorgeous woman asking for a favor but he is still unsure he wants to accept this task.
Morgan likes Dooley and knows he is just the man to help. Their attraction is undeniable so there shouldnt be an issue in him helping her out for a few days. She just needs him to come with her on a business trip, and maybe keep her nights entertained. She doesnt know who else to ask, and honestly doesnt want anyone else for the job.
Dooley takes Morgan up on her offer and tries his best to not get involved. Dont get to know her, according to Sam and his buddies, or youll never want to let go. Too bad he has felt like that for the month hes already known her. Could she ever feel the same?
Once again the author takes us on a trip with the Bradford family and their friends. Each book references past characters but it never really totally involves them unnecessarily. That is one of the things I love about this author, funny enough following in the steps of the referenced Lori Foster who does the same. You get involved and invested in these characters and want to know all about them. Dooley was already a favorite of mine with his quick wit and passing advice. Knowing he needed a good match to keep up with him had me wondering who could possibly fill those shoes. Enter Morgan, his opposite on paper (so it seemed), but perfect to keep up with Dooley and all hes about.
It was nice getting to know Dooleys family dynamic and more about Kevin (who is the next book in the series) and I cant wait to continue on with my Bradford adventure.
