This was the first books in a series. I felt like reading a few good book and these seemed perfect. The book got straight into it which was good as the book wasn't about the beginning it was about the moment Eve made her new start. It was your typical romance book - I won't give a full run down as it will spoil the book. It was a book you could leave and come back to. I genuinely ready quite quickly but for someone who doesn't read all the time you can come back to it and pick up where you left off. I got the feeling that Eve is a strong woman and doesn't need a man in her life. Halfway through when someone turns up at the motel I was actually worried what would happen. This shows I was invested in the characters and their lives. It could of been a bit longer but it covered everything it needed to to complete the story.

It has been several days since the zombie apocalypse came to Runcorn and now my home town, is nothing more than a dead town.This is my journal…The comedy horror trilogy continues with Death in a Northern Town 3: Dead Man Walking. Follow John, 80s Dave, Butty and Emily on their journey through zombie infested Runcorn, trying their best to survive against both the dead and the living.
I’ve said it after every book I bloody love this series!! This one was a just as good as the first two. I actually nearly wet myself laughing (or could be I’m getting old and after having 4 kids things get that way 😂😂😂) and also woke my husband at 1am at 80s Daves dream. The Tina Turner nut bush started it but Freddie Kruger and the mayonnaise spoon just had me in bits. I absolutely love this writers style and I still think it’s one of the best zombie books I’ve read. I urge everyone to read it. Also yay for zombie geese and ducks!!

Macenzie "Mac" Almeida has returned to Westham, Massachusetts, after several years away, and she is settling back into the town where she grew up. She's enjoying time with her family, her bike shop is thriving, and she enjoys her weekly meetings with the Cozy Capers, a book club that reads exclusively cozy mysteries. Returning from their meeting one night, Mac stumbles over the dead body of Jake Lacey. Jake didn't have the best reputation in town, and Mac had her own disagreement with the man over a repair he had been hired to do for her. Worse yet, she recognizes the knife as one her brother owns. With the rest of the Cozy Capers jumping in to try to help solve the crime, will they succeed?
Ever since this series has been announced, I've been looking forward to it, and the debut didn't disappoint. I always love vacation destination settings, and this one is fun; now I want to visit Cape Cod. Plus, what cozy mystery fan isn't going to want to read about a club that loves the same sub-genre we do? We are introduced to a large selection of series regulars here, and it took some work to keep them all straight, but I'm sure that will get easier as the series goes along and the various supporting characters get enough page time. The suspects don't have the same issue, and it is easy to remember their motives. There are several secrets and potential motives for murder, but by the time Mac figures things out, everything is clear to us and her. While this isn't a traditional culinary cozy, Mac's boyfriend owns a bakery in town, and we get several recipes at the end of the book.

Overcomes a Slow Start to be Entertaining
P.I. Kinsey Millhone has been hired to ease the mind of a widow. No one is questioning that Tom Newquist died of a heart attack, something brought on by his poor health habits. However, his widow, Selma, is convinced that something was bothering her husband in the last few weeks of his life, and she needs to know what that was. The problem is, she has no clue where Kinsey might begin to look, and none of Tom’s friends or co-workers in the Nota Lake Sheriff’s office are willing to speak ill of the man or have any clue what might have been bothering him. So Kinsey digs into his life, hoping to find some thread she can unravel. Was Tom hiding something? Can Kinsey figure out what it was?
Since this is a mystery, you know that Kinsey will eventually uncover something. The key word here in eventually. The first part of the book is very slow, and we are over a quarter of the way in before we begin to see evidence that there is something for Kinsey to uncover. However, the further it goes along, the more we get drawn in to another great mystery, and by the climax I was glad I had stuck with the book. We do get a little time in Kinsey’s native Santa Teresa, and it is nice to see the series regulars however briefly. Not that this book is lacking strong characters. The new cast are outstanding and help pull us into the story even before the plot takes off. While I don’t recommend this book as an introduction to the series, I think series fans will be thankful they stuck with the book until the end.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
When I was offered this it was described as being like 50 Shades of Grey and the Crossfire series. Having liked both of these I thought Id give it a go. In a way it was like them: young girl meets wealthy business man and cant deny the sexual attraction. Unfortunately for me, it didnt quite measure up. It didnt draw me in straight away.
In fact, it took me a while to get into it. That might have been down to Gustavs attitude and the fact he wasnt very good at explaining what he wanted. It put me off a bit, I guess, and I couldnt always understand the attraction. Serena, too, was a bit of a puzzle. The way she reacted sometimes; though that could probably be put down to her age.
After finishing the story Ive been left with some questions. Why wouldnt Gustav kiss her until near the end? Why did he with-hold from having sex with her for so long? What sort of lifestyle were Gustav and his wife involved with before? And why were Serenas parents so horrible to her?
I suppose since this is the first in the trilogy that we will get answers to some of these in the following books. If Im honest, Im not sure if Id be interested in continuing the series, though that ending has most definitely whetted my appetite.

Gabriel (Legacy Ranch #2) by R.J. Scott
Gabriel is the second book in the Legacy Ranch series, and we find out a bit more about the young man who cried at the trial that happened in book one. His life hasn't been a good one so far, but he is broken enough that he thinks it is just fine. He lives with his pimp, Stefan, who controls every aspect of his life, and makes Gabriel pay for any misdemeanours that Stefan thinks has happened, or that he has just made up because he's not having a good day. Stefan has managed to get into Gabriel's mind and twist things around so that Gabriel is actually thankful for all that Stefan does for him.
Cam, on the other hand, appears to have it all. He runs a successful hotel, has plenty of money, and even has a bodyguard. Things must be good, right? Wrong! Cam's family, with the odd exception, are a bunch of BEEP, condescending, BEEP, know-it-alls, who think that just because Cam is losing his sight, he must be losing all of his faculties too. His father, well, enough said about him!
Cam and Gabriel end up together on a purely business level. Cam needs someone to pretend to be with him, Gabriel wants the money. However, feelings quickly become involved, and then it's anyone's guess. Six tries to tell Cam not to get involved, but Cam pays no attention. Their road is anything but smooth, but luckily the folks at Legacy Ranch are there to help... once Gabriel lets them in.
This is a dark book, with dark topics and it's not a HEA situation full of rainbows and glitter. This is hard, and horrible, and may be a trigger book for some readers. There is light at the end of the tunnel for Gabriel though, and I really hope that he will feature in the next book, just so I can see what progress he's made.
Gabriel is extremely well written, with no editing or grammatical errors that disrupted my reading flow. Like I've already said, it's not an easy book to read, but it is definitely worth it. I would also say that it isn't fully necessary to have read book one in this series, or indeed the Texas series which is where we first meet Jack and Riley. This book does stand on it's own merit, but personally I would recommend reading Kyle at the minimum, just to give you a feeling of what the Legacy Ranch series is about.
If you like your M/M Romance with angst, then I can definitely recommend this book/series. Just remember the trigger warnings!
