A truly pocket sized Bible
This app is a marvel. Allows you to always have access to a bible, I try to carry my Bible always but I can’t read my small one well and the one I can read is HUGE and therefore heavy.
This app allows me to read passages in several different translations with great ease.
I am currently doing a bible study with this app with friends in Australia and Rome and yet this app makes it possible for us to read together and connect and share our thoughts as though we were all together.
The app offers a verse of the day and really does encourage people to interact with it.
My only concern is that with this app being so good will people stop picking up their actual Bibles because electronic is no match for actual pages.

David McK (3576 KP) rated Night Watch (Discworld, #29; City Watch, #6) in Books
Jan 28, 2019
2018 update: "Truth! Justice! Reasonably-priced love! And a hard-boiled egg!"
2016 update: Following (Sir) Terry Pratchett's death in 2015 to his 'Embuggerance', I recently came across a blog where the author of said blog was reading all of the Discworld books in order from the first to the last. One of the last entries in the said blog was when he rated the books, from his most to least favourite, and then asked his readers to do the same and later published those responses.
In both cases, 'Night Watch' - which, I think, was one of the last before Pratchett was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's - was in the top 10, so I decided to go back and re-read it ...
<original thoughts below>
One of Terry Pratchett's more recent Discworld novel, in which he makes use of the good old time-travel sci-fi trope to move Commander Sam Vimes of the City Watch back in time to an earlier portion of his life-time.

**I was sent an ARC of this from the publisher for review these thoughts are not influenced by this**
I enjoyed the video game /A.R. aspect that was brought into the game. I felt the characters were developed well I knew who each was I can't say that I personally connected to any of them, I will say that when I recall my high school experience I can picture each type of these characters in my high school that would fit into their descriptions. I enjoyed the religious aspect that was brought into the book and learning different parts of world religions and how they tied it into the game. The world building inside the game was great, when returing to the real world most of it took place in a high school so there wasn't much needed in describing the world. If you like mystery/thrillers and teens questioning their morals I would recommend checking it out for sure

I received this book for free from Publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
For the last few months, every time the question, "What is your latest favorite read?" popped up on Twitter, I always answered the question with The Abyss Surrounds Us. All anyone needs to know about Skrutskie's lovely debut novel is the combination of sea monsters and pirates. (I personally didn't mind the LBGT element in the book, because it doesn't play a huge part in the story and most certainly doesn't overshadow the main plot.)
Also, cutest sea monster ever – I can't even imagine such cuteness being monstrous. I want one of my own. (So long as I'm not getting eaten. Everyone else is um… fair game.)

Sophia (Bookwyrming Thoughts) (530 KP) rated Their Fractured Light (Starbound, #3) in Books
Jan 23, 2020
In terms of covers Their Fractured Light is my least favorite out of all three books in the trilogy. (These Broken Stars is my favorite.)
In terms of everything else however….
I loved every second I had with the final book in the Starbound trilogy - it's so much more intense, action-packed, and fast paced than the other two books as all six characters (Tarver and Lilac from These Broken Stars, Jubilee and Flynn from This Shattered World, and now Gideon and Sofia) come together to bring down La Roux Industries.

Sophia (Bookwyrming Thoughts) (530 KP) rated Spark in Books
Jan 23, 2020
I received this book for free from Publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
Spark has such an awkward tension at the beginning, but it is so worth the reading in order to see all of the characters grow by the end of the story. All of the characters in the Advanced Drama class - Quin, Dylan, Cass - are considered to be outsiders compared to their classmates at Verona High. But when Quin's mother decides to revive the old Avery Theater, Quin and her drama class members are all placed in roles they aren't actually comfortable with.
Overall, I love the magic Schindler weaves into her latest book, blending fantasy and contemporary seemlessly and bringing theater to life.

Kate (493 KP) rated Remember Me in Books
Mar 21, 2020
I loved this book. This may be because the author is Sophie Kinsella and I personally have never read a bad book from her. She is one of my favorite authors.
I liked the concept of this story and wasn't like anything I had read before. I wasn't reading it and thinking it was similar to anything else.
I was hooked from page 1 and couldn't put this book down.
You could hear the character's voices throughout the book and due to their descriptions I was able to see the characters. I also felt for them - I felt sorry for some and didn't like others. I wanted to sneer when I read about them.
My thoughts toward the main character changed throughout the book, in a good way. This was how she grew as a character and how she changed as she realised what her life and her personally were like.

Sara Cox (1845 KP) rated The Perfect Wife in Books
Aug 1, 2019
When Tim, an COE for an AI company, idea his wife he starts a controversial project - he creates a robot of his wife. Abbie-bot has all the memories and feelings that Abbie had, but she can tell that something isn't right with Abbie's disappearance.
This book had me from the go! After two pages I could tell it was going to be a "Black Mirror" sort of thing. And I'm going to be honest, Black Mirror freaked me out. This book however was amazing! So many twists and turns. A real psychological ride! The character development of robot Abbie was brilliant. I loved going through her thoughts with her. The aspects of this novel are well researched, coding and autism. I cannot fault it. The ending took my breath away, three times in fact. Just as I was getting over the first "no way!" moment I was hit with another and then another. This is definitely going on my to read pile to read again!
