"I saw this movie at Film Forum when I was in college. I remember watching all three hours of it with my mouth open. It fueled my interest in so many things: monks, bells, medieval Russia, structuring movies and plays like novels . . . I was taking a really dumb screenwriting class at the time, and this contradicted everything I had just been taught."

I like to read a short story--or three--whenever I'm struggling to get into my longer ones, which is my current problem, as I feel they help.

This was a sweet story, but I also felt like it didn't really have enough relationship progression in it. I would have loved to see more of them together. Other than that, I liked it.

One thing I can say for this: the author seemed to know what she was talking about with this be it the lingo or the action. In truth I was more into the action elements than the romance. And that is why it's only getting three star, because I'm a romance reader and it didn't hold my attention that much.

This book was great! Building on what the first book brought us, fleshing everything out further, both in terms of world building and characters. The new characters are just as good as those introduced to us on book one, and the minor characters from both are easily as intriguing.

Really looking forward to finishing off the series with book three.

"“It’s by far my favourite film and so different to anything I’ve seen before. It feels like an artform in itself. I think I could just watch that movie and no other for the rest of my life and not feel as though I’d missed anything. It’s basically three men walking around a field. That’s all it is, yet it’s utterly mind- blowing.”"

"Every spring, the three younger Makioka sisters don their finest kimonos to stroll beneath the cherry blossoms at Kyoto, a ceremony that seems to encapsulate the ritualized elegance of their lives and their deep bonds of affection, both of which are threatened by the family’s declining fortunes and a Japan that is swiftly changing on the eve of World War II."
