Cinderella: Fairy Tale with picture glossary and an activity (My Very First Story Time) by Pat-a-Cake, Rachel Elliot, Tim Budgen is a retelling of a much loved story, only with a difference, this has a multicultural slant.

Cinderella, (along with many of the other characters in this book) is portrayed as mixed heritage. She is also more capable of looking after herself, and a much better role model for young girls since this story is less about her being a slave to her ugly sisters and her “woe-is-me” pity-party and more about how she makes things happen for herself as a valued member of her society. Albeit a magical one.

I’d say this is great reading for children three years and up, as this has paper pages and doesn’t seem to be for an early self-reader, despite the title, but you can still read this story out loud to younger children at bedtime.

A charming book, full of diversity, simple rhythmic words and brightly coloured illustrations.

The best Disney Pixar franchise ever
I love this film, and I'm not afraid to admit it. It's beautiful, heartwarming and utterly amusing to watch. I still remember seeing it the first time and being completely mesmerised by the new style graphics. And the story was an update from the usual Brothers Grimm fairy tales , modernised for its young viewers living in the 1990s. Woody and Buzz have the best partnership on screen, and it's one of those rare trilogies where every single film was brilliant. Massive kudos to Disney Pixar.

The Nightmare Before Christmas
I must say I’m a big Tim Burton and Disney fan and I only watched this film this Christmas for the very first time, and I got so disappointed at it.
I mean, the film is quite okay, but in my opinion it’s very overrated.
I loved Jack, but apart from him I didn’t really care much for the story, or other characters or even the songs
It’s not a bad film, it was just way more boring because with the reputation it has, I was expecting to love is as much as I love corpse bride, and I didn’t, at all

"I guess you got to put The Shawshank Redemption in there somewhere, right? That movie was just so amazing. It’s a wild ride, because it’s very emotional. I just remember the line at the end where he’s like, “My friend.” There’s such an amazing friendship plot in that, and then there’s that line at the end that just makes you bawl your eyes out, you know? So, it’s like, get ready for an emotional… It’s very dark. He gets raped in prison. He’s getting attacked. But that story between Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman, it’s just this friendship plot that runs through the movie. I just thought that was really powerful."

Very different to subsequent adaptations
The tale of Sleepy Hollow is infamous with many versions derived from this short story. However, subsequent adaptations portray protagonist Ichabod Crane as a hero and not a victim of the headless horseman. While he's not a victim in the murder-sense, being driven away from Sleepy Hollow does seem unlike the valiant lawman, as seen in the Tim Burton film.

In this, Crane is a simple teacher with wide-ranging beliefs and clearly a big appetite. Most of the characters are the same but there are no intriguing plots of control over the Hessian headless horseman.

It's a straight forward rural legend about a bloodthirsty war hero who continues to haunt the town. Although even this is questionable as seen in the last part of the story. Nevertheless, it's still a classic and I'm sure many more versions will be created in the future.

Sweeney Todd
Sweeney Todd: the demon barber of Fleet Street it’s a musical by Tim Burton with Johnny Depp as Sweeney Todd, Helena Bonham Carter as Mrs Lovett and Sasha Baron Cohen as Signor Pirelli and Alan Rickman as Judge Turpin.
The story is about Benjamin Barker ( later known as Sweeney Todd), a barber, that had a wife and child. And he was taken away from them because this Judge fancied Benjamin’s wife. He comes back to London to see his wife again after years until he meets Mrs Lovett who tells him she poisoned herself and that Judge Turpin has his daughter as his ward. So Sweeney Todd plans his revenge with Mrs Lovett.
I’ve watched this film more than 10 times and I love it still.
The film is all in shades or browns, greys and reds and the voice choices are marvellous.

EPIC
One of the best movies ever made. The story of an honest banker who finds out his wife is cheating on him and is accused of her and her lovers murder is sent to Shawshank prison for two consecutive life terms. He is put through all the horrible things we hear about in prision. However he befriends an inmate who has been there for a long time who controls the smuggling of hard to get stuff in. Morgan freeman and Tim Robbins give Epic award winning performances in this suspenseful, dramatic movie that never has a dull moment in it. I dare you to try and watch it and take a bathroom break cause you just can't

A fun western starring Tim McCoy, king of the western at the time and who would make a biography full of stories for Hollywood to film. The movie is fun, with fast and realistic fight scenes. The story is also great, which despite being a cliché, it would be great if they were used for a series these days. We still have John Wayne, at the beginning of his career and with his excellent charisma already honed that would earn him the post of king of the western in the following decades. The film is fast, so all the unwinding too, but the film manages to close all the ends very well. I enjoyed it a lot.

To Infinity and Beyond?
Toy Story spinoff featuring one of their most famous characters, here voiced by Chris Evans rather than Tim Allen.

Cue card at the start of the film states something along the lines that 'In 1995, a bit called Andy received a new toy based on his favourite movie. This is that movie'.

So, we have what is in effect a prequel of sorts - this version of Buzz is not a toy, nor is there and Woody or any of the other gang from those films. Instead, we have a very obviously Star Wars/Star Trek inspired movie, with a few twists along the way and some (as expected) drop dead gorgeous animation!

Book Review | Boys Don't Cry: A Story of Love, Depression and Men by Tim Grayburn
Blurb
I have chronic depression and acute anxiety.

This means that sometimes without medication I can sink very deep and think about killing myself.

But it also means that most of the time I cam perfectly happy and I forgot it even exists.

I have recently begun to become proud of it.

Review
I haven't read much non-fiction books I'm always stuck in a fiction world. But when I saw this book I thought I want to read more about Mental Health with Mental Health Awareness Week coming up next week I thought why not.

This book is about Tim Grayburn a 'real man' who opens up and publish this book it about love, being diagnose with depression and acute anxiety. I feel this man is brave for sharing is struggles with mental illness.

It shows through hes life how he kept the secret for 8 years because he felt ashamed that he didn't feel like a man, so it got so worst that when he was aged 23 he had a nervous breakdown. He hide all this from hes work mates, family and friends for so long he put on a happy face to show people he was coping okay. But he kept having thoughts of his existence like who am I? Why am I here? What is life for? they kept repeating and playing over and over.

But I was happy that he found someone to settle down with and understand what he his going through and not run away. Now Tim is a father to his son Frank.

I love that he and Bryony made hes life into a award-winning show Fake it 'Til You Make It after he quit working in advertising what he was doing for 10 years.

Thank Tim for showing people who suffer with depression and anxiety that you can achieve amazing things like this show and your book.

*Thanks Hodder & Stoughton for sending me out this ARC copy of Boy's Don't Cry.
