A consistent end to the trilogy
The D&D time-travel series comes to and end with this third book. Here the action is split between a timeline in the 90s following the first two books, with a future narrative of Nick's adult life in the 2000s and 2010s, and finishing up with a retelling of the events of the first book, from "future Nick's" PoV.
I still have issues with the science, multiverse and time-travel execution here as with the first books, but appreciate the way the story was woven together. Some of Lawrence's fantasy books have the different timeline feature and once again he expertly weaves them together so the overall story emerges at a good pace.
At one point, I thought the book was going to go down the Bill & Ted route as a cop-out ("in the future we will come back to this point and leave this key here and voila here it is") but this was actually quite well handled and wasn't the cop-out I feared.
The book benefits from a more stretched timeline as we see significant events from Nick's adult life, rather than dwelling on his teenage years solely. Likewise there is more of a focus on the D&D, which was somewhat lacking in book 2, and with key learnings from that featuring in the real world storyline.
Overall, I think I enjoyed this series, but I have my hang-ups about time-travel and multiverse theories in general. A good bit of escapism, if a little heavy on the pretend science at times.

Leftover Misfits stumbling around in a time machine.
The first season had a lot of problems for me the whole show just felt like leftovers that no one wanted from other shows blended together with Doctor Who references.

It's like they didn't know what to do with anyone and the group chemistry was rocky at best. But I'm a sucker for time travel abd super hero shows so I tuned in every week especially since I knew they were going to have tie in episodes with Arrow and The Flash and at the time I watched both shows regularly.

My main problem with the show is you can tell that they wanted to get to certain events but didn't really know how to get there so they had the group kind of stumbled around a space ship.

David McK (3188 KP) rated Loki - Season 1 in TV

Loki - Season 1
2021 | Adventure, Fantasy, Sci-Fi
The most recent (at the time of writing) of Marvels post-Endgame TV series (after both WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier) and, once again, this is a very different beast than any of those two previous.

In this one, Tom Hiddleston portrays Loki, as he was just after stealing the Tesseract during the time travel heist of Avengers: Endgame ie before this version of him had lived through those events that occurred after Avengers Assemble (eg Thor: Dark World, Ragnorak, Infinity War etc etc) and is almost immediately arrested by the Time Variance Authority (the TVA), an organisation whose sole purpose is to police the 'sacred timeline'.

Over the course of the series, things prove not always to be as they seem, with this series also (or so I've heard) leading directly into Marvels phase 4 of the MCU.

I'd say it's because it's slow. There's a lot of exposition and it can be draggy. That would be why I'd rate it lower. Worth watching, just be aware.

I disliked the show completely, the only reason I rated it as high as a 5 is because when I averaged the ratings for each episode, the 2 good episodes outweighed the other trash episodes.
It was boring, it turned Loki into a vanilla-boring character, and the writing was terrible. The only reason I continued after the 3rd episode is because of Hiddleston, as I'm a huge fan, and he said that eps 4 and 5 were where it got more interesting. Episode 4 was an abomination. The plot was nonsensical and Hiddleston's acting was cringey. Seriously, the Ragnarok flashdance hair flip occurring multiple times was odd and annoying. I'm in the minority, I apparently watched a completely different show. It caused me to have zero interest in the MCU beyond Shang Chi.

What a lovely book! I started this a few hours ago and couldn't put it down. I always love to read a time-travel and the romance is lovely between Vickie and Jason. So I thought the love scene came a bit early on, but I must not be in a picky mood so I won't quibble about it. I really didn't know what the outcome was going to be exactly, except the typical HEA, so that kept me turning the pages. The epilogue left me with a silly grin on my face and I'm so glad the author included that. All in all, it was a wonderful book to pass the time.

10 years and they punk us out with time travel
I’m not going to lie, this was the epic conclusion to a 10 year saga and I couldn’t wait. I hoped and hoped they return to the heights after a fairly nothing movie in infinity war.

However they used some lazy storytelling techniques to fix there MCU problems and lost me. Was I entertained?? Yes I suppose I was but I was expecting to be blown away and no I wasn’t!!!

Fall off in form - more of a set up for Season 3....
I enjoyed the first series of this Trek spin off so went into season 2 hoping for a lot. It managed to tackle some of the troublesome storylines but it felt like the characters had lost some of the punchyness that made the first series shine.

In this series we get a lot of Spock (not entirely sold on the acting of Ethan Peck) who must face his past along with his estranged sister Michael Burnham. As well as Captain Pike (played very well by Anson Mount) taking control of Discovery to investigate a series of odd red signals that have being appearing across the universe.

Stories involving time travel are often problematic and unlike the Series 1 mirror universe storyline the time travel aspect in this was clumsy. The AI threat was also not that thrilling for me and left too many questions unanswered.

There seemed to be a much more mopy, exploring feelings and relationships, feel to this series that I think that let it down. The action was great but characters seemed to feel it was necessary to have a heart to heart in the middle of a time critical mission - GET ON WITH IT FFS!!!

Dazed and Confused (1993)
1993 | Comedy

"When I saw Dazed and Confused, it would have been the early ’90s. I remember I was in Seattle at the time, and I went to the $1.50 movie theater we had, the UA 150, which no longer exists. I’ve always been a fan of time travel and I remember going to Dazed and Confused and being transported to that time period. I just lost it. I really felt what it was to be in that time period because, although I’d been a small kid, I definitely remember the ’70s. It’s mostly a feeling, but that movie took me right back there. It was amazing, everything about it. It was only one day, an intense day, but at that age one day can mean everything. The archetypes and the way the high school was filmed, it just felt really grounded. I grew up in Great Falls, Montana, and I related to the setting and the people. Sociologically, it just nails human behavior. There’s nothing absurd about it. And Ben Affleck plays an asshole, which he’s perfect for."

Um OK
James Cole (Willis) lives in a time where disease has ravaged the planet and has been put in charge of a riddle on how maybe he can save the world. He also is given the ability to time travel to try and catch up to the elusive group the 12 monkeys. Along the way we see him run in to an mixture of crazy characters like Jeffery Goines (pitt) who is a pure nut ball but tries to make him believe he can help. The real question is that will he solve the riddle through all the muck and guck and save the world or will we perrish.

movie was not that great. They had a good idea just didn't follow through

A modern classic!
I recently watched the Comedy Central Roast of Bruce Willis which wasn't very good, but did show clips of many Willis films. You forget how many very good films he was in back in the day (not so much now) including 12 Monkeys.

Any time travel film is always going to mess with your brain a little and become more confusing the more you think about it; however, this one still holds up.

Willis plays his again everyman sent back in time to try and discover details about a mysterious disease which ravages the entire world in the future he comes from. Enough twists and turns to keep you guessing and a hilarious supporting role for Brad Pitt.
