Lumos (380 KP) rated Dominion in Tabletop Games
Mar 14, 2018
This remains to be my favorite Tabletop game. The playability is definitely there. I have played countless rounds and I haven't played the same game twice. The only issue I have with this game is that I have a friend who knows exactly what cards work well together to chain the perfect deck and ends up getting too far ahead, far too quickly, for the rest of us to catch up.

Dean (6927 KP) rated The Deer Hunter (1978) in Movies
Feb 24, 2018
I have to say I think this is way over hyped! Waaaay too long at 3 hours I'm sure it could be cut to 2 hours and not miss much. Compared to some more recent war films, this looks a little dated now. It's ok, great actors, good cinematography. The way it charts the friends lives together before, during and after the war is good, but far from a great film.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2373 KP) rated Evan Can Wait (Constable Evans, #5) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
A documentary on how World War II affected the area leads to a mystery from the past. Then the director disappears and Evan suspects foul play. Is he right? The way the mysteries of the past and present weave together is brilliant. And the characters are great as always.

Anna Steele (111 KP) rated We Are Okay in Books

Uplifting
Marin is lonely, she’s drowning in it. Her friend (maybe more) Mabel tries to save her from her loneliness. As the story goes alone we piece together a past Marin was unable to face. It was really interesting how inactive the actual sequence of events were, but it remained engaging through sporadically having flashbacks to Marin’s past.
Lovely story, kinda gay, depression and anxiety present and discussed.

Anna Steele (111 KP) rated History Is All You Left Me in Books

History isn’t everything
Adam Silvera is a really good author if you want a YA gay realistic fiction with a twist.
In this heartbreaking endeavor, the twist is that our main character is addressing the entire novel to his dead first love, using “you” throughout the “Today” sections to speak directly to him. Silvera plays with time and pieces together the mystery of Theo and Griff’s past beautifully.

Benedick Lewis (3001 KP) created a post in Movie Fun and Trivia

King is the master of phantasmagorical horror and his sales verify his number one place amongst authors of the genre. This is the story of a group of youngsters who each have an encounter with Pennywise the Clown, an evil, malevolent being that feeds on the fears of children. Their friendship pact brings them together thirty years later to confront their demons and end their battle with ‘IT’. A great read.

Roxanne (13 KP) rated Maisy Goes on a Plane in Books
Nov 14, 2018
My daughter loves travelling by plane so I thought I would reserve this one for her at the library. She also loves Maisy so this was a good book to read together. The book goes through all the stages of airplane travel, some of which my daughter remembers so it brought back happy memories. There were a few inconsistencies but those probably won't be recognised by pre-schoolers.
