"I’m cheating again by listing two movies together, but the contrast is too good not to mention. I’m a big admirer of the Powell and Pressburger films, and these two would have to be my favorites. Actually, I’d easily list Black Narcissus as my favorite. But The Red Shoes is so celebrated (by comparison) that I want fans of that film to experience the unique vertigo of Black Narcissus."

"Oh God, I love this lot. They're very different to The Wilsons or The Watersons, who are robust, full-voiced and loud, in that they're very gentle. Frank's got this ethereal quiver, Phil this lyrical tone, Joey this bass that grounds the music, and binds everything together. This is the perfect combination of voices to me, so uplifting, joyous and emotional, while making it feel so seamless and effortless.

"The first novel I read that held together on a regular plane as well as thematic one - as story as well as a symbolic journey. There could be others that work like Jude, but something about this book - the way the author is dealing with ideas like evolution along with the collapse of class culture - made it feel like a precursor to modernism. Like the birth of modernism."

"It is easy to see how this previously banned surrealist/Dadaist masterpiece influenced so many filmmakers to come. Jean Vigo’s use of physical comedy and the slightly provocative nature of the film’s subject matter work together to create a generally outré atmosphere that at times borders on the chaotic. It makes for a mesmerizing watch. Without Zéro de conduite, it’s hard to imagine a 400 Blows or If…."

This book was so torturous to read, I barely remember anything about it. I actually forgot I read it until I saw the ebook was on sale today. I'll never get back the hours I wasted on it. I wish I could provide more details, but I'm trying to block out the experience all together.
Wait - I remember something about the swamps, and a dragon. That's it. Woof.

Tahereh never disappoints! I felt so much throughout this whole book: anger, sadness, disbelief, disgust, hatred, love, happiness... It was definitely information overload and I was surprised at how everything fit together, despite being given to us in pieces. Reading Defy Me makes me want to start the series over, I can never get enough of Warner and Juliette (and yes, that's how I still think of them!)

I'm liking this manga, though the added extra of a nice girlfriend for our male lead is...irritating. It's always so much easier to want our lead girl to get the guy when the girlfriends a cruel person but she isn't, she's so nice. Nevertheless I am still rooting for them to get together, even if it takes a few volumes to get there.

Off to start Volume 3.

The graphics and editing is very good and the characters are well thought out, put together and very well played by each actor (1 more)
The story line is full of adventure, heart ache (at certain points) and many amazing fight scenes.
There may be parts where you feel as if it's not really needed. (0 more)
A fun watch
I enjoyed the movie overall and loved the characters throughout the movie.
