Leanne Crabtree (480 KP) rated Bet on Us (Bet on Love, #1) in Books

3.5 stars.
The beginning bit confused me quite a bit but when the story started properly, I got pulled into it. I loved Fin. I loved them together as a couple, though Ellie was a little dense in parts to realise what I figured from before the half way mark--that Fin wanted her as more than just a conquest.
Some bits I wasn't so fond of but I think because of Fin, I'll raise the rating half a star.
BTW my last status update should be ignored entirely. Ellie only thought she'd broken up with Fin.

This was on a list at BooLikes called "Books to Fall in Love With", and I have to say that I definitely fell in love with the first half of this book and would have given it five stars if that bit could have been stretched out into the full book. The second half I wasn't so keen on. I liked it but it didn't make me fall in love with the characters like the first half did, in fact, I got a little bored.
Nevertheless, I did really like the caracters. They were really good together.

Gripping LetRPG
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Having already devoured a Luke Chmilenko collaboration, I was greatly anticipating Savage Dominion by Luke Chmilenko and G.D. Penman. This book did not disappoint!!
From the very beginning, this book reads like the best RPG you have ever played. Three unlikely characters become travelling companions, and then almost friends as they take on challenges and quests together. We see them levelling up and learning new skills and abilities as they proceed on their journey.
Already looking forward to Savage Dominion: Wyrmshard!!

I wanted to like this so much as I love the other 2 but its very poor in comparison. It did enough for me to watch until the end but my score also reflects on comparison to the other 2. With all the time between films a better storyline and better song could have been thought of surely? The passing onto the younger generation is something I'm in to generally; we bought into the characters in the title not just dumb female versions of them acting out excellent adventure. But if done right can blend together seamlessly. Such a shame!

"Sometimes there's beauty in the tough worlds - it's all in how you read them."
I found this difficult, not because it wasn't beautifully written and not because it wasn't a beautiful story but, because it was so close to home. Thought provoking, thought changing and a new way to look at things.
Finch is wonderfully messed up, Violet is damaged and confused. Together they mark disaster but it also brings out something all so remarkable.
“We are all alone, trapped in these bodies and our own minds, and whatever company we have in this life is only fleeting and superficial.”

David McK (3562 KP) rated Star Wars, Vol. 11: The Scourging of Shu-Torun in Books

I've just discovered that this is the final part in Keiron Gillen's run of Star Wars graphic novels, edging ever closer (as it does) to the timeline of The Empire Strikes Back.
Any, yes, in many respects it does 'feel' like a finale or even an epilogue, with the disparate plot threads of the previous entries all finally coming together and with Leia, Han, Luke and co all making a strike back at the Queen of Shu-Torun, whose betrayal was largely responsible for the massive defeat they suffered in Star Wars, Vol. 9: Hope Dies.

From it's description, i expected to like this more. But i didnt.
The art-work wasnt the best--the characters seeming to change slightly from one frame to the next--never looking the same. Continuity also wasn't the best.
The wording also drove me a little mad. All the "N'" this and "N'" that. Proper down south dialogue. The sentences ran together in parts which made it hard to figure out what they were saying.
And lastly, the storyline. I didn't quite get the love at first sight thing but the rest of it was quite good.

Where do I start?
The change in relationship between Xander and Kizzie over the last three books has had me captivated. This one especially. You can tell they both really want the other, but other things such as life and work are keeping them apart.
It's killing me! I really want them to get together!
Other than that, I was drawn into the story, though admittedly at the beginning I had no idea what was happening, but it was all explained as we went from viewpoint to viewpoint of the pivotal characters in the story.
Can't wait for book 4!

Character Development
Highly Entertaining
Dramatic Plotline
Haven't Seen Another Like It
I wouldnt say it was love at first sight but once the show gets going I couldn't bring myself to look away. It takes one or two episodes to really start up as the show starts to establish the multiple relationships and backstory for each of the characters. However once it gets started it's hard to look away, from the growingly good music throughout the show to the development clearly outlined throughout all of the characters, brings together for a wonderful show.
